If you want to fight at heavy, thats your choice. He lost badly, that is to say not just by a large margin, but in the manner in which he lost.
Heavier, slower, and then ungracious to the end. HE has had 4, count em FOUR,chances to do something at heavy. Ruiz NC rahman draw, and peter twice. HE showed in this fight that he did not deserve the rematch because he does not take his opportunities seriously. I am pissed off at Toney. When I saw the weigh in picks I was F#ckin choked! I did a sarcastic re write of the associated press release of the weigh-in,but someone dissed the post so I didn't follow it up.
I don't care if he ever fights again. $1.1 million and he can't get "UP" for the fight? what a enormous prick! IF he gets down to cruiser below 190 THEN MAYBE I'll watch him fight. Otherwise he can p1ss off!
He needs to take a cue from Byrd. You can't disrespect the boxing fans by coming to a championship fight looking like this.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch the fight. Is this an actual pic from the fight If so, what the fuk did Blanks do for the Toney camp? It looks like he's wearing a truck tire around his waist. Someone confirmed that the second round 'knockdown' was actually a flash knockdown. Seemed unlikely that Toney would go down from a Jab after taking Peter's best.
I knew he still looked like a fatass from that weigh-in shot.

For the pic and confirmation. Honestly, I can't blame this on Blanks. I think if God came to James and trained him he would
have snubbed his nose at him/her/it and 'ran' to the nearest burger joint and fed his face. Pathetic.

in return brother.. Again as I stated in other instances, Fighters get old in a matter of 3 rounds, I havent seen the fight but in James whole career I never remember hereing of such a dismal showing as this.. I will tell you this say what you want but a 215-220 James Toney would of gotten KO by Sam Peter, James needed to carry the weight for stability and absorption.. I'm not making excuses for James he is a Fine competittor and one undesirable interview, but thats just James being James.. I would like to see him retire or Hell B-Hop wants Maskaev at Heavy he should fight James @ heavy as a warm up

I thought Toney would win. I also thought Blanks would have gotten him in better shape. I had Toney ahead in the first one, and unfortunately I missed the rematch but it sounds like Samuel Peter pretty much beat the living crap out of him. Might be time to hang up the gloves for James, he is pushin 40 and it doesnt look like he is able to get himself in the kind of shape he needs to be in to be able to compete at the top level anymore. But yeah anyone who thought JT was gonna knock out big man is just wishful thinking. I never figured him to do that. He just can't hurt the heavyweights with his punches. He had a great run and is a great fighter; one of the best of the last twelve years no doubt. But his time may be up.

back at ya JT. In full agreement as usual. I was hoping, but ever cynical, that Toney would come in the high 220's but completely ripped. Unfortunately, we can't splice Holyfield's genes and implant them in James. That being said, I think it would be wise for James to retire but I just don't see that happening. He fought top ranked H.W.'s at the time (with the exception of Booker and an over-the-hill Holyfield). I still think that he could beat a lot of the top 10 fighters.
The only option is for Toney to bring in a Sports Physician and go on a cycle of HGH to burn all of that blubber off him. In the end, I'm merely grasping at straws. Such things are not only implausible, but moreover, unethical. But that's par for the course in most competitive sports.

Error: can't repeat a Karma action for a while. Get you back later.
