CC absolutely agreed. One step at a time.

To put things into perspective size wise

    Hatton 5'6" 65" reach (140)
    Cotto 5'7" 67" reach (147)
    Judah 5'7" 72" reach (147)
    Mayweather 5'8" 72" reach (147)
    Castillo 5'8" 69" reach (140)
    D-Hop 5'11" 74" reach (140)
    Witter 5'7" 70" reach (140)
    Lazcano 5'9" 72" reach (140)

These are some people I could picture Hatton fighting within the next two years
Based on size alone there isn't much difference between the guys at 140 and 147
considering how big Ricky gets inbetween fights especially.

My personal take is that he should stick with 140, fights with Castillo, Witter and D-Hop interest me.
PBF would annihilate Hatton at 147 as would Cotto.
At 147 the only interesting fight for me would be Hatton - Judah.

These are just my opinions though.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Thats why i was truely against the move back to 140 and i know you will all say he wasnt up for 147 but were is the risk taking that makes boxing exciting? I remember when Hatton was the true underdog against KT and i prefered it that way because it brought the best out of him. Risk taking is what makes an exciting match up and i feel Hatton would be the underdog against Cotto and would cause the upset, i have real faith in him for that.
I like HAtton but I loke cotto the most but Hatton style is fun to watch. I as well belive he has to go back to 147 unless better competition appears at 140. But still Hatton has to people to fight at 140. you got Castillo Jr. Witter, He can still fight Torres even MAlignaggi despite his loss with Cotto it was a very good fight. What weight is Berto? 147 I think.

I know there is those people but will you still feel the same buzz as you did that night when Ricky Hatton took the best at 140 in being KT? I dont think i would feel it at all, if anything i would expect Hatton to dominate all of the fights except the castillo one at 140 now being honest. IMO if he beats Castillo he aint got nothing else to prove at 140 and he should get his risk taking ass back to 147 with the big boys and do us all proad. I'd prefer Ricky to fight Cotto and lose by a SD then stay at 140 for the rest of his carrer and fight people on not such an elite level and win the fight by a UD. I just want to see Ricky show us his full calabor and I just don't understand why people think he's not cabable of pulling of a win against cotto! i have full faith in my boy to win that and i know he would do it.

Steve Forbes? He has done shit, i can never forgive him for losing against Grady Brewer! I dont think Hatton would fight him, but if he did it would be a true backwards step.

It would be a backwards step if he was to stay at 140 if he beat castillo imo. he would safely beat everyone at 140 if that was the case, forbes isnt on Hattons level and i think he is a lower level than Urango being honest!

Totally agree with you again, I've noticed that i do that often with your posts.
Still you are right and Hatton would lose to either Mayweather or Cotto, Hatton has been living off the Tszyu win for two years and needs to have a superfight with these guys or fade away to oblivion.

I think Hatton is underrated a bit as a boxer. He isn't easy work for anybody. Nobody. Not even Floyd. It's not like he's some mindless brawler, he was in and out beautifully against Urango and with better conditioning that would have been a fight that proved a lot. And I do believe his conditioning will improve.

He may not have the advantages over Cotto but Cotto has never had anyone come at him like Hatton would and Cotto has frail hands. And Hatton is a fast enough fighter to keep Cotto on the inside, and on the inside Hatton is a very good fighter.

I think to many people, Americans especially, underestimate Hatton. He is at 140 and staying there just because some fighters styles/size don't let them switch weight divisions and be successful. Hatton is just to short to compete at 147 among other things. Nothing wrong with that. He didn't run from 147 SweetPea, he never wanted to be there HBO forced it. He's a natural 140 lb fighter and there is no reason for him to stray from that weight. The only chance he has against Cotto and Floyd is if they come down to at least a catchweight.

Hatton just can't be successful at 147 imo, his physical build and skillset won't allow it. But 140 he can be GREAT in imo, regardless of how many big fights come his way.

    Well said.
I don't understand the hooplah surrounding jumping weight classes, anyway. It seems that a lot of people give Hatton a hard time because he's not as effective at 147 as he is at 140. What's wrong with a boxer fighting at his optimal weight? With that logic, eventually we'll pit heavyweights against featherweights, and complain when the featherweights lose. It's ridiculous.

No way! That should be a very competetive matchup. I honestly think it's a toss up.
