Lots of great names mentioned. Here's one more.

    Mark Knopfler

Great with Dire Straits, great solo. If you don't own Golden Heart, buy it today. He's not as flashy as some, but he he is tasty, tasteful, and he can burn when he wants.

Somebody was talking slide players - Derek Trucks is no slouch. His intonation is the best I've heard in a long time.

    - and he's on tour with Clapton, with Doyle Bramhall Jr. They've been performing some of the Derek and the Dominoes stuff. Wicked cool.

Eddie Vanhalen of course and George Lynch (the best rock/hairmetal guitarist of the 80's).

Robert, I was just busting your gonads. Morello is an innovative player and a pretty cool guy at that.

Hells yeah...now that's what I'm talking about. Lynch and E.D.V. are absolute phenoms.

It's cool to see your name on here again. We also had another old school poster (Rick_Rack) who stopped by over the weekend.

Vai, satriani, batio, malmsteen, eric johnson, slash, eric clapton, jimi hendrix, kirk hammet, eddie van halen, Mark knopfler. They are all pretty damn good.

If you check youtube there is some really good guitar players that arent famous, guys like Jerry C, Mattrach(youtube name), funtwo. All three have one thing in common, they both played canon rock, which is basically pachabels canon in D turned into a total shred rockathon and sounds awesome. I can play some of it. Jerry C wrote it and he sure can play.Mattrach did a cover of canon rock, played it heaps good...then wrote his own and it sounded even better. The guy is around my age and kicks my arse totally on the guitar...but hes played since he was 7 it says on his bio thing. Have a look on youtube, you find heaps good undiscovered guitarists.

i once got into this loooooooooong debate with this white dude who said metallicas guitar player is way better than carlos santana and jimi hendrix combined.

this dude was one of them ignorant/racist guys who seriously thought white people are just plain better end of story.

so he seriously thought metallica kicks santana and hendrixs asssssss in guitar or shall we say metal up their asses

You should have told him that Kirk Hammett's mom is from the Philippines.

He's a really fun guitar player, but better than Hendrix and Santana combined? That's insane.
