...i was sitting waiting thinking ok this is it margarito gonna show up this round but he never did. He was blocking almost all of williams punches and all that but damn you can't just let a guy throw and throw and throw wheather the punches are effective or not. It may have looked a lot worse than it was but for the judges that what they saw. Once margarito got inside a little more and threw back a little he started being given rounds but even through all that williams kept punching and punching and even took a couple of good shots down the stretch. But i was impressed on how calm williams was and how he stuck with his plan. Like they said during the telecast he's never changed and has fought all his previous opponets i figured margarito would be ready for what he was gonna see but he wasn't. Although i picked margarito to win i've always thought it was kinda strange that this guy was constantly calling out the one welter that no one wanted to fight.....i guess now i see why. Williams before and during the fight never seemed worried.

well said, and it's amazing how quickly a loss can take you from the most feared man to a bum and heartless etc....where are all the people who were so behind him and were so quick to bring up pbf, mosley and whoever ducking him all this time. You mean to say they were ducking a no good heartless fighter ? So quick fans change.

agreed, and it's a bit sickening actually, that's why boxing is one of the cruelest sports around, a true fan would back their fighter up no matter what, not just jump on a bandwagon and then jump off when it makes an unscheduled stop, Erik Morales is obviously my favorite fighter, and well he has lost 3 straight, and yet he is still my favorite fighter, and IMO one of the two best fighters since Julio Cesar Chavez (Morales and Barrera), and well obviously i'm backing him for his fight against Diaz (although i do hope he holds true and retires after that fight), and well how big will that be for him to retire the only Mexican to be champion in 4 weight classes, and well being a champion, either way whatever the outcome, IMO Morales=one of the greatest fighters of our generation, he is a true living legend and he is that at only 30 or 31 years old

#31 albeit I never bought into his hype and the whole boogeyman persona and most ducked fighter etc... but I can say he is a great warrior and showed tremendous determination

i can't even really think of a 9 or 10 right now, cause i'm only saying fighters that ARE at 147 right now, Hatton isn't at 147 yet, because there is no date set for his supposed fight with Mayweather, and also so far it's just talk for DLH going back down to 147, I'd say that Cotto is ranked above Mosley just because his fights at welter have been more dominant wins than Mosley's last attempt at welter (the fights after the Wright losses and well his win against Collazo), they all have been clear wins, and i was really impressed with his win over Collazo, but the other wins before the Vargas fights weren't that impressive

Mandatory, because he's paranoid like Winky Wright. He'll do anything to keep that belt. Because he's had it for years and earned it for years.

What many fans don't know is that you can relinquish your belt to fight a premier boxer such as Miguel Cotto.
Cotto Margarito would have gotten much attention and with their respective styles, it would have been a barn burner.

But to say that Margarito HAD to fight Williams is just bogus. No one HAS to fight anybody. Team Margarito left Bob Arum, to his dismay and went with Dan Goosen to fight Goosen's fighter.

He fought him in the ring man. Your guy is better than mine. Paul Williams is a b@d@ss, the new Bad Man of the Division.
Margarito lost. He earned his belt in the ring and lost it in there. It all worked out. As for him thinking he won... that's his personal problem that was made public and now everybody is on his back yet again. So what? I say. If he thinks he won and keeps they same style in his next fight with Williams, he'll lose again... it will be better for the Williams fans IMO. But nothing to think lower of Margarito, this is his life, he didn't attack anybody. I honestly think he thinks he won. He's a nice guy man. I've met him in the nose bleed section, he was hanging out with fans. And I'm not mexican, so he was cool with me too. A very nice guy who's always had to do it the hard way and HAS been ducked. The "boxing fans" never really liked him. Too bad, it's their loss.

But when it all comes down to it, Margarito isn't afraid of any boxer. He WANTS to fight.
