I've sent him several messages but the last time he replied was about a year ago on his b-day.Originally Posted by El Gamo
i can't believe no one's talking about this guy. he's virtually unknown and yet his record speaks for itself. Jorge Fernando Castro.

I dare not to go into it now but i reckon he upsets a few bookies in his time![]()

Mind you, i think the 154 division in general is underrated.
Karmazin, Spinks, Dela Hoya, Santos, Acline, Simms, Ouma...
When you look at the WW's below, you can see how many from the 'great' division would genuinely struggle against this list of fighters.

He is underrated by the general public. He should be as well knoen as a Duran, yet ask the average casual boxing fan who arguello is and many wont know. I never underrated his ability.Originally Posted by Trainer Monkey

That's my mans hes involved in my #2 favorite fight as far as FOTYs go... When he beat 'Action' Jackson.
Only second to JLC-Corrales I in my books..... Castro fought his ass off in that fight and no matter how many times I see it I jump up and scream OH! Shit! Got damn!!! when I see him loop that hook.
He's beaten some prominent and World Class names. Some of the fighters hes beaten are Johnson 2 times, Jackson 2 times, Drews, Duran, Harmon.
He also fought but lost to Terry Norris, RJJ, J.C. Gomez, Jirov, Paul Briggs.
The mans started his career weighing 149 lbs. Firstly contended at 154 then fought as a Middleweight where he became champ top contender as a Cruiserweight where he has fought for 2 major titles and the IBO belt also. In 2005 he won an eliminator bout against Harmon for the WBA Light Heavyweight title back then the title was vacant and more then likely Castro would have fought either Silvo Branco or Tiozzo depending on the time frame in which you look at.
I personally would say Castros un-appreciated and hes one of those fighters whos fought for years so many names with some wins and some looses and he always gives it his all every single time he fights.
Great work KKisser, thats the sort of thing i was trying to get from this thread. Fernando Castro obviously was not scared of anyone, beat some good names, and went the distance with some greats. CCOriginally Posted by KKisser
