Well I'll be the 1st to show disdain for Manfredo, but if he wins good on him. He is a scrapper, so I wouldn't mind seeing him test the waters with Andrade, because if someone plans on getting through that division they'll have to get through his gate to do it.Originally Posted by PRIDE OF BOSTON

I think it's hard to use those fights as an indicator. They are very different conditions than a usual fight. But even still he's a much improved fighter who actually has some head movement now. In the show I wondered if he signed a contract not to dodge or block a single punch.Originally Posted by SEANIE
I don't see Peter trying to trade with Lacy. But if he does, its over.

CC.. I know that he lost to Gomez in the first fight, so you can't even say that he fought a few days before that fight or anything.. but they were the same weight, so if he lost to a welterweight, then he would've been considered losing to someone in his own weight class, which he did.. Since then Peter obviously has improved, not to mention gained 10-11 lbs to become a super middleweight.. I think it's safe to assume that he has a bit more power after gaining 10lbs, and if he fought Gomez again it would be quite a different fight at a higher weight.Originally Posted by luvfightgame

I think a win of any kind against anybody helps Lacy because of all the injury questions. A Manfredo loss doesn't mean much because he has a "created" fan base. Although a Manfredo win is HUGE.

He's better than mediocre. He's a decent fringe contender. He'll never be a real champ, but he can separate the frauds from the real top-tier. I don't know anybody that rates him any higher than that. Actually, Manfredo probably gets less credit than he would if he were never on the show. Before the show, he was a fairly well rated as a prospect. If he had never been on the show, he'd have more respect, but less fame and money.Originally Posted by JT Rock
Look it is this way...Lots of people on this forum give Paul Smith all kinds of credit as a real prospect, and David Banks gave him all he could handle...Paul Smith was, IMHO, the 4th best fighter on the contender this season and Banks pushed him to an SD. Banks also won an EASY decision over Donny McCrary in a consolation fight, never mind Banks two victorys over Ayala. He boxeds Donny's ass off and it wasn't even close. Manfredo beat the guy with a UD, albeit a close UD. If Manfredo was crap, I mean, really crap, Banks would have beat him. In fact, people use the Banks fight to trash him, when in really, now that we've seen more of Banks, it's actually a pretty nice notch on his sword.
Manfredo isn't great, but he take way more abuse than he deserves. He guy is a real fighter, he ain't afraid of anybody, and he's got more skill than most people give him credit. People didn't like his personality on the show, they didn't like that he got brought back, and they look to trash him on any occasion. What if Paul Smith was fighting Lacy next month? Would you be trashing Paul Smith as badly as you trash Manfredo?
Wow, two one dimensional sluggers beating the crap out of each other. Should be fun.Originally Posted by JT Rock

to me manfredo had a lot to gain in this fight.
I forgot all about this fight until I was mucking around BoxRec. How did Lacy look? Looks like the scoring was fairly close...

CC back. When I wrote that post, I was waiting for the Manfredo haters to come on the attack or to get a few comments because I think I bring up some pretty good point. I think he could have won the Lacy fight, except Lacy really hurt him with that right hand, probably hurt as much as he's been hurt in his career, and then he fought scared the rest of the way. I actually lost some of respect for Manfredo in the Lacy fight, because I think it was there for his taking. Once he got his bell rung, he reverted that lazy ass style he goes into sometime, the same thing that's been responsible for every one of his losses. When he was staying outside and boxing, he was boxing Lacy's ears off, but he was also open to Lacy's full power. It started fighting to not lose instead of fighting to win. I would have rather scene him get KO'd while trying to win than doing what he did. Instead, he stayed inside and let Lacy outwork him. Frustrating.Originally Posted by Bilbo
I think he likes his veal pizzaoai a little too much and I really question his conditioning and to some degree his desire to be great. I seems like he's satisfied to be just pretty good and make a living. I still think he has skills and respect his skills. I think's made enough money in this game now, he has a local following and name to get more good fights, and he's going to spend the next few years as a gatekeeper to the top 10.
