Oh please, learn boxing before you try to talk about it
Hopkins is one of the most unique boxers ever, noone studies his opponent like he does. Every game plan is tailor made for the opponent at hand
And noone in this entire sport works harder then he does
At 44 his body is chiseled rock, unlike the flab you see in every division
    He'd have destroyed Hearns
British Invasion my arse, take your nationalist shite and stick it,its boxing not a world war
Im sorry,Im totally sick of that crap.

Take a chill pill, no need for that.....

I cant see why this thread has caused so much hassle...most points in here arguing against the thread go on about hopkins 20 defences undefeated for 10years and such...it's clear to see Hopkins was that great.

Admittedly some of his wins came against fighters who STARTED at lower weights...but they looked comfortable enough in Middle weight..

Only thing i would like to point out is that the same thread came up about Calzaghe...asking is he an all time great...most people said no...but the people who said he was gave the same reasons the rest of posters in this thread do towards Hopkins. So there is clearly a slight bias here.

However Hopkins does have the bigger names,Just an observation though.

fuckin hell you all know better dont ya? and anyone with a radically different opinion is either a "WANKER" or knows nothing about boxing...keep reading your Ring/KO magazine and believing you know it all...was I saying Mugabi was a yank, am I full of nationalistic crap when all we hear from you lot over there is how great your mediocre fighters are..look at what happened to jeff lacy after he was bigged up as the next big thing...? read my post properly..i've been following boxing for 25 years and have boxed amateur myself...I used to believe all that I read until I looked further into the hype that follows most boxers who have a good PR machine behind them a-la Hopkins..true he should be respected for coming from where he has and making his life a success but I would never describe him as a great, nowhere near, he could send a hyperactive kid to sleep when he fights...anyway nice to see that some of you can only respond to those with different views as you by resorting to expletives, name calling, questioning my own knowledge...maybe you should go on a forum for school kids...put your views across in an adult way if you can that is

Talking about the british invasion....discrediting Mayweather as a fighter...Lasst time I checked rankings were worldwide...same as P4P list....not one of your post were decent or intelligent...each one had consisted of an insult and had top mention Britian and the USA being Yanks or what ever....you had just as many members from the UK calling you a jerk (in so many words) as you did US members....

Pay attention to what you post...you get what you give around here...come on the forum start telling everyone what is what and people like Hopkins being no good and in every post stating British superiority and no real boxing based facts in your post then your going to get the stick.....

Don't Poke sleeping Dog's My Man if you don't want to take chance the pack catching up with you.. and that is what happened here.....don't know where your used to posting at but here on Saddo the British/USA stuff don't fly...we talk boxing and can care less where a guy is from.....it's Saddo Boxing Forums not the UK VS USA boxing forums...and you came out of the gate with that attitude towards everyone..take a look around a bit maybe before posting in the future....you see anyone else saying stuff like "Another one of those over rated Brit fighters"...or "Look at the Yank fighter thats getting in the ring this weekend"....NO you don't.....

as for being a fan and amateur boxer is that supposed to mean something?....you have guys here that are trainers, ex fighters...that speak with all...and I stress...ALL the top promoters and fighters one on one on a regular basis in a business aspect day to day....guys here who are historians and have fight collections to rival the IBHOF.....so trying to use some muscle on what you know or how long you have known it just worsens your cause....Almost insulting people by assuming they are not on your level.........

Think about that for a minute

Its not your "opinion" that brings a sharp response. We all have those, there similar to what is nestled in ones trousers, where the sun don't shine. It is not necessary to defie modern medicine and actually communicate through that part of your anatomy though.

As far as us,they, them,Yanks,Brits,You and the borderline histaria your spouting It overrides and overshadows any valid (?) points you might make. You obviously have an immense amount of prejudice as far as "us Yanks" and should do your self a great service by learning and realizing that boxing is in fact the most Internationally assorted and varied sport in existence and Its obvious that 90% of the fans on this forum judge and follow fighters on there merits, accomplishments and personal preferences.......Not an up or down yeh or nay on were they were born or now reside,The colony's and the Kingdom across the pond have had there conflicts and battles, stick to boxing My man.

You state You have followed boxing for twenty five years.I have no clue how old you are,But maybe you should not throw stones in a glass house when it comes to name calling and Expletives as well as closed minded Judgements. There are no "school Kids" here (except Bruce ) just some pretty ardent and dedicated fans that take time to analyse the sport and Listen to reason from fellow posters.

Point of fact,I believe Hatton will defeat FMJ but that "Gayweather" crap is just plain dumb.

Hopkins ,Up until The Tito fight had little to no "hype Machine" and alot of what he did have was Negative .......alot by his own bad management decisions,His "boring" style and being very stubborn and speaking out loud and clear on what he saw as bad in the boxing establishment,His points were often valid but they were lost in the harsh delivery and Rancour. Now he reaps the rewards as a shot-caller ...Like it or not!

Lastly, wipe your feet when you come into someones house Newbie.Get your elbows off the dinner table and show some much needed RESPECT.
