I agree with ICE in that he does block alot of punches; not all of them but a high percentage. I also agree with Spicoli' and CMM that he needs to do some work, at least if he plans on moving up, as I don't see anyone at the moment at 160 to beat him. Someone is going to figure out how to get to that thin body of his, so he does need to at least learn to bend a bit, but I don't think really he'll change until someone beats him. I think alot of that face making at JT came from the confidence of taking some pretty big shots from Miranda and he just figured he could take anything JT had to offer. He seems to think his force of will and good chin will just eventually get the job done, but someone is going to check that oil one day; I think the body of Pavlik, and he'll either adapt or just be what he is. I know one thing, whenever he fights I'm on the edge of my seat just waiting for that one guy to put him down, as he is just balls ahead type fighter.

All brass for Next fight taking the rematch though.
I really dont see much he can change and something tells me His ego and urge to "rebound" with tempered aggresion will lead to a brutal ko loss and He'll do no better at 168 Imo.
Spicoli, just to clarify something here when you say "brutal ko loss" you mean more brutal then the 1st time around?
    Or
    Just brutal ko?

Make sure the Family is out of the room Brutal. After Climbing off the canvas on heart I see a bobble head effect on the ropes and then Splat!Think D.Wison In his last fight w/ E. Nawando(??).
That being said Pavlik needs to upgrade his defense .Having a feirce offense is on e thing but backseating your defense behind it will catch up to you Imo.
Actually Pavlik's defense isn't that bad except for when he pulled silly faces when he got knocked down he actually blocked alot of Taylor's punches and was quite impressive in that department.
He didnt block tha one(s) that put him on QuearStreet!taylor flailed away and threw like a amatuer when Pavlik was very vulnerable.
Well he put his hand's down and made silly face of course he will be knocked down when he does stupid things like that doesn't mean his defense isn't good it means he got too over confident.
If he fights "stupid"and gets Dropped Then his defense by what ever definition is not strong!Hes a brave confident Guy and He will exchange with pride.

Actually Pavlik being knocked down hard was a blessing in disguise that will teach him to never put his hands down and make silly faces again

Aside from the silly faces you were really impressed with Pavliks defense?
I gotta disagree there Pavlik pretty much is your typical offensive fighter who doesn't really concentrate too much on defense as far as waist movement, bobbing & weaving. I agree with Spicoli, Pavlik has lot's to pick up on in the defense dept.
CC your way. I saw him in lets of earlier fights, he still keeps his hands up which is a bonus, but earlier he seemed to roll his shoulders more to incoming shots. He has abandoned that in his last 3-4 fights.
    CC#41 on me Deanrw....
I've seen a lot of early Pavlik now and like you I saw he rolled with punches more.
You are right in his last fights he seems to think he can stand there and take anyones punch.
Someone who's a straight shooter like him will test him even more then what JT did.
Heres hoping Jacks working on that "D".
