Tommy is one of the great but at WW so was TITO.

ANd Tell me how would Tommy would have done against a prime ODLH?

Tommy was not just any welterweight...his power at WW was damn freightning...not 147lb man should be able to hit that hard....his speed was also way above the average welterweights....plus even though he is known for power Tommy was a master boxer....I just don't see Tito beating him....
nither I but as easy people here call it I don't believe

But you also have to remember that Tito at WW was of the same pedigree (despite what one of the posters said). He, like Hearns, was a monster at that weight. His punching power at the time was at the very least comparable to Hearns. Not to mention he never lossed a fight at WW so it is hard to go against him. The only man to give him a close fight fought in a way that Hearns would never fight so we can't use that against Tito.

Yes, Hearns would most likely beat Tito. Everything that Tito had, Hearns had more of it. He was bigger and even more powerfull. But anybody that sais Hearns would just blow through Trinidad like a knife through hot butter is just fooling themselves. Tito would make it a fight all through to the end. And if there is one thing that we can all agree on is that Tito had much better stamina than Hearns, which means the further it went, the more likely Tito would win.

As I say about any fighter. If you plan on beating Tito. You better bring your A game and you better stick to it for as long as the fight lasts. One slip up and he will make you pay.
That's all I'm trying to say but this guys used the correct words
Hearns and "tito" weren't in the same league. And from what I can see you agree.

I'd rather watch tito - Benitez. Watch tito hit air all night long.

You claim he knows nothing about boxing.
You then continue by judging potential boxing contests by using countries of origin as a measure of a fighter's worth...

First I am gonna say Hearns, Rd4. Not much different with a few other guys. Tito, out of his range, was not effective (like the way DLH worked him over).
Hearns was so dangerous inside the first 5 rounds, if you couldn't counter and stop him from getting off 100+ knockout intended punches a round... You weren't surviving. And Tito didn't really beat anyone who was a more natural heavier opponents (eg. Hopkins). Let's not forget Hearns went all the way up to Cruiserweight.

    also:
Yeah, a while back, I think I started a thread like this also. Its a great match, but you gotta go with Hearns. He had equal or greater power to Tito, AND was a so much better boxer. Not to mention his height and reach, he could just stay on the outside and pick Tito apart and do the same to Trinidad as he did to the shorter Duran.
I don't think Hearns stayed on the outside and picked Duran apart. as Far as I could see he swung like a bushwhacker on FFW and had him hurt within a minute and out cold within 4 minutes.

I too hold Tito in high regard, I really liked his style at 147 (and also at 154.) He's actually a guy I like to watch and I find him uplifting in that a guy with such a nice - almost boyish, personality can be such a demon in the ring.

However, when faced against the Hitman Tommy Hearns, poor Tito's defects would be exposed easily.
A KO in 1 or 2 is not unreasonable by any means.

jesus christ this must be the most exciting fight ever! hmmm they have to be the 2 biggest hitters at welter...if not the most then deffo 2 of the top 5 anyways! However hearns takes this in my mind and im sure about this becuase if hearns had to the geezer could box fooking well ala Leoanrd 1....now many people outbox a prime SRL put it that way. Thing is Hearns chin was always a tad suspect so maybe Tito could catch him and knock him out but 8/10 times hearns would be too good for tito.

Tommy would dominate this one. Too much power for Tito at Welter. Hearns 2nd round KO.
