Please anyone who dosent take that statement for what it implies RACIAL SUPERIORITY needs to wisen up.... It was in poor taste plain and simple. Hopkins was a douchebag in making that remark END OF!!!! like someone else said if Calzaghe said "I aint lettin no Black Man beat be" the whole place would of errupted Jesse Jackson would have been flow in with Al Sharpton and they would have picketed the gotdam arena. They would have demanded an apology and Calzaghe would have had to have a press conference to save face... Meanwhile Dikhead Hopkins runs off at the mouth and he gets a gatepass, to hell with that I hate racism no matter who is prompting it, but the recourse should be equal as well as the public outrage.

Of course its different when someone disrespect's your race maybe you don't mind it but i do and i take it personal.
Ya know I'm one of those whacky big picture, none of this mess really matters so there's no reason to get your panties in a bunch over anything (and I mean anything) kinda people, so when you take it personal when someone disrespect's your race I just don't understand. You should try not becoming emotional involved, it tends to hinder your ability to think clearly and that unfortunately bleeds into the conversation. And to be honest, the jews complained less about the holocaust than white's do about being called, a 'white boy' lol. You have white pasty skin, it sucks I know but get over yourself and don't be suprised when I call you whitey. The color of your skin means absolutely S***, and so does Hopkins' comment. But man do I really wanna see this fight... Hmm maybe I should actually thank B-Hop for the buildup, I can stir on this for a few months and really enjoy the S*** when it comes around
Have a on a Whitey, enjoy twat

4 major races in Philly, but its the really really poor folks who get discraminated against the worst that should be changing their behaviour
And on top of it,"white boy" is just a descriptive phrase in Philly
If he had said honky or cracker,on the other hand, youd hear no defense from me,because that is a racial epithet there
On top of that, why is it allways running to complaining about Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, anymore someone should send a search party to even find them
White guys are so easily led through the nose anymore,"Oh my we've done a ton of heinous things,as recently as last week,we're such victims"
The on top of it the quote unquote victims you get so offended on behalf of,they never really suffer.

Although I don't condone what Hopkins said I don't take any offense to it (although I see the points of those who do) it's all about generating interest and gaining media attention.

    Thats all it is.

Sad thing is all this is taking away from the reason we're even here...to talk boxing, not the color of the boxers or how they belive. When i first heard about this i was expecting this big slew of racist insults and it wasn't that. I can see some people getting offended but ah well to each his own. The reporters around him when he said it were all white and they were having a good time and laughing it off just as most probably would. Some of the reactions and comments i've heard about the incident if it is one were just as bad as what he said in the first place. And i'm not really even talking about people on here, but just cause they're not blasted all over T.V. they are no better. People can crack black jokes, and call hopkins names say they want his black or blank ass kicked is basically the same thing.

You boys kill me with laughter. Hopkins owned Joe in that confrontation , and i do beleive Hopins will never let a white boy beat him beacause of how racist he is. I like Hops though he can say whatever he wants out of the ring it means nothing to me. I do beleive at this stage Joe wins though with that god awful pitty pat style.

I never said anything about race or class, change starts in each individual. Wealthy upper class and poor alike, to not hold yourself accountable to the standards you believe in and expect others to be held accountable, is wishy washy and IMO lacks backbone. Thats the same for both sides of the equation, lack of compassion and empathy.
Yeah this is turning into a lets get it on topic not boxing.... so I'm done with the politics. Hate breeds hate though you gotta break the cycle.

A very real conversation around grandma Johnsons dinner table
(Grandma Johnson wasnt present at the time or we'd have both been smacked on the ear)
    Chipper;Hey white boy,pass the greens
Me:Hell your closer and I dont think your black ass has any broken arms
We've been friends almost all our lives,do you think we were screwing around,or do you think we were being racist

I just don't understand how you can claim Hopkins is a racist and believes in the superiority of the black race as if its the same as when the whites actually practised their superiority over blacks

Blacks have never reduced whites to slavery. Blacks don't disenfranchise whites and leave them with substandard educations, working for lower wages and having a higher unemployment rate. Blacks didn't segregate whites, blacks didn't uproot whites from their homes and transport them like cattle halfway around the world.

For you to say that Hokpins is arguing for the racial superiority of the black man is just plain offensive.

It's the blacks who have been oppressed by whites throughout history. When he says he won't lose to a white man, the way I take it is him saying he won't lose to the race that has persecuted and oppressed his own race for generations and who still looks down their noses at his race, especially in Philly where he grew up and lives.

I actually like Hopkins attitude to be honest. He says what he thinks and isn't trying to be all PC.

If he harbours resentment towards whites then so be it, but please don't even begin to equate that to the kind of racism that whites have practised against blacks throughout recent history.

To use my bullying analogy once again. If later in life when they are all grown up the bullied kid stil doesnt like the kid who bullied him that doesn't make him a bully. But if the bully still picks on the kid he bullied as a child then he's still being a bully.

I know it's a lost point on most of you pc nonnies but I'll continue to try and explain the obvious.

Well I'm sure you know why he employs the 'god awful pitter patter style' but he is beating world class guys with it. Having hands like that in boxing is a major disability and look what he is STILL doing even so.

Ok, Bilbo for the rest of time , I'll answer for some shit I had no part in(slavery)...lol you crazy ass. Your analogy is ridiculous. It would make sense if slavery was still going on but really the whites in America are making leaps and bounds in race relations if you just look at the progress from the 80's to now its drastic.
To Trainer Monkey, in that context of course its not offensive. Shit I lived in Inglewood for a few years and my name was stupid whiteboy in school(one of two white kids in the whole school), I'm not easily offended but you didnt see me walking around saying the n-word.

I appreciate your tangent BUT we are talking about 1 man who made a remark that is only accountable for himself... Thats the issue, your historical analysis bears no relevance on what 1 man may believe in his heart in which the burden of proof may very well lay in his own words.... what happen in the building next to him or 100 years ago really has no signifigance.

This really isn't a big deal imo. I am suprised Hopkins was picked by GBP because he really lacks charm or public speaking presence

This is the same guy who never left a tip at a restaurant until he had over a million dollars. The man who threw the PR national flag on the ground , disrespecting the whole country before fighting Tito. The man who makes a sworn promise to his mother that he would not fight after 40. His words are as good as the next dollar sign he sees.

Merchant "Watching bernard hopkins fight is like watching ice melt"

Hopkins is just an ignorant old man and a dirty, boring fighter. And that was before the Calzaghe thing.
