    Paul Malignaggi

    Enzo Maccarinelli
    David Haye
    Joe Calzaghe
    Clinton Woods
    Gavin Rees
    Junior Witter

USA has 10, UK has 6.
It's actually 13-6 since Steve Cunningham is the IBF Cruiserweight champion, David Diaz the WBC Lightweight Champion and Robert Guerrero the IBF Featherweight champion. Not surprising as the better fighters always come out the US
    ViolentDemise,
It's actually 9-6 because Guerrero, D. Diaz, J. Diaz and Luevano are Mexican.
Robert Guerrero was born in Gilroy, California
David Diaz was born Chicago, Illinois
Juan Diaz was born in Houston, Texas
Steven Luevano was born in Los Angeles, California

    There US fighters to me
Commom error in the racial profiling affluent USA. It is this same silly rhetoric that pisses me off when reentering the USA on business trips. (my home and racial hotbed) A military veteran that has been asked by agents why I speak English so well ..mmmmmmmmmm because I was born here idiot !! Caucasians ask me what I am and I say Mexican despite being American because if I say American I have not really addressed their ears. My sister asks me why I say Mexican and I say that society does not see me as anything other than that. If I commit a crime the news will affix "Hispanic or Mexican Male alongside my age. Actually Mexicans can also respond by saying Americans because they are, as are all people in the ""Americas".

Examples: Caucasian with a vintage car = car collector
Hispanic with a vintage car = a gang banger

Caucasian with a plaid shirt = an outdoorsman
Hispanic with a plaid shirt = a gang banger

Caucasian that runs fast = a gift, white hope
Hispanic that runs fast = attributed to crime

This is very true. Imo you can't really count the majority of American champions as they are mongrel country with a strange hybrid mixture of various races.

The only real all American champ they have is Kelly Pavlik, the rest are all either hispanic, African, or scabby European's like Turks, Croats, Irish etc.

So the correct answer is America have 1 champ

The UK on the other hand have Calzaghe, Hatton (Ring) Maccarinelli, Woods and Rees so 5.

    ViolentDemise,

Are you of Mexican decent ? If so, outside of boxing you have missed the boat on the basics of being a Mexican male. Guerrero, D. Diaz, J. Diaz and Luevano are all US citizens born in the USA and even Margarito is one. And Corona is hardly considered a Mexican beer ...... Taco Bell is crap and tacos, burritos are not staples of the Mexican diet.

MEXICAN 101" MEXICAN = NOT LATINO
(Latinos are the white people of Latin America)

    = NOT HISPANIC
(Hispanics are the people of Spain and Europe)

Mexicans are Indigenous people! We are not white! (Hispanic and Latino means white!) These terms are nothing more than than forms of cultural castration of our people for census purposes in the USA. We are not foreigners to this land yet we are bear the blunt of the term aliens where as others are immigrants. Mexican people are primarily a mixed blood and full blooded Indigenous people. 92% of the so called Hispanics\Latinos in the Southwestern USA are people of Mexican descent. We are also @ 75%
of the so-called Hispanics\Latinos in the USA as a whole. So the term should be American of Mexican decent on all references\ applications.

    That's racist America for you.

Black fighters in England are mostly concidered as English.

Around the 1790's a man going by the name Bill Richmond a former black American slave came to England and set up a boxing academy.
I bet not many blacks could of done that in America.
Tom Molineaux another former black American slave also moved to England.
Molineaux challenged Tom Cribb for the British Empire and world title and narrowly lost in the 39th round.
He was also lived like a champion in England, and died in london after endulging.

I believe Chris Eubank left America and moved to England. He started off as a cleaner in a gym.

I think it's something to do with Americans feeling inferior to other white races which leads them to being so stupidly racist towards good hard working people sometimes.

CC mate, some very good points in there, in that in Britain people who are exceptional will tend to rise to the top whatever their talent is. I disagree with the last sentence though, and think that for many ethnic minorities considering thmselves as Americans would be like myself saying that I'm an European.

This is also a norm for musicians who go to the UK to promote their music to a more adaptive audience.

That's just your opinion. And it carries little weight around here
I think it would be more like a fact than an opinion, i.e USA population = 300 million, UK = 60 Million, therefore USA = 5:1 ratio of population but only about 2:1 ratio of World Champions, even you should be able to the maths on that.

    Wow people !!

Both USA & UK have a lot of talent, it's a fun rivalry.

By the way, USA is a melting pot of cultures......
that do, believe it or not, get along and respect each other.
Of coarse, there's always a few bad apples in any bunch.

    Question ?
How many champs does Mexico have ?
They should be representing in numbers as well.

Looks like the UK doesn't even have Mexico beat for Champions,
    let alone the USA !!

How do the amount of Champions from North America match up
with other parts of the world ??

USA, Mexico, & Puerto Rico, year in and year out produce a lot of
talent in this region of the world !!

The better question is the caliber quality of champion each region has. The UK's list is impressive in terms of quantity. Outside of Calzaghe their staying power for 2008 is questionable. Factor in that 5 of the the UK's champions are in 2 weight classes and the end is near for the UK's rise.

Enzo Maccarinelli vs David Haye reduces the count by one.
Gavin Rees, Junior Witter and Hatton(Ring champ) reduces the number by 2 if they fight.
Clinton Woods vs Danny Green or Chad Dawson?
Joe Calzaghe waiting to see how he fares outside of his element against a talent from the Americas?

The question should really be who has the most unified champions.

Think it's fair to say Joe is a unified champion.
The winner of Haye V Maccarinelli could be called unified.

Awww poor little Mayweather isn't and never has been a unified champion.
I guess that it's fair to say he has never been the undisputed in any division. LOL
