Yes but Floyd is a champion. Oscar was rebounding from a loss and is a former world champion and contender like Forbes.

If he went against a natural 154 pounder or a ranked opponent at 154 I would not have been so harsh on him....I also agree if he went after Cotto or Margarito win or lose I would again have more respect for him

He holds up relevant fights, when he himself is as relevant as Vargas/Mayorga.

he has held that stupid green belt when he fights once every 3 years

He has never fought Winky Wright.

He now owns The Ring magazine which gives us further suspicion that he will invade further with fake drama.

he was dressed nicer than cutmemick whenever they took a picture together before a homo-erotic evening.

These are all very valid reasons why he isn't very many peoples favorite fighter.

I mentioned the part about him not fightinf Winky the night of the Forbes bout....To be fair two or 3 years ago n0o one was rushing to fight WQinky and now Winky has moved up too far

I've always liked and respectyed De la Hoya.
I agree with many of the points put forward by Pride early in the thread and I feel De la Hoya, is financially milking the game a little too much now.

I also take issue with Oscar's opposition. Granted he fought Mayweather, but from a purely physical point of view he hasn't called out anyone of equal size in years. He's challemged Forbes, Hatton, Cotto and Mayweather to fights, but each and all of those are considerably smaller than Oscar.
If he is such a brave ready fighter, what has prevented him from calling out the likes of Ronald Wright?

But, OSCAR?! He is far from being a trash talk, having no charisma, being unrespectful, etc. He is a gentleman and has fought whoever, just look at his resume. He has brought boxing some of the most exciting fights.
It seems that everything he does is just wrong no matter what. Cotto faced a lesser opponent and everybody was happy. Oscar did the same thing and everybody thought that was the worse thing ever done. Someone can do whatever but if Oscar does the same then it is simply unacceptable. I don't understand.
Let's say Oscar wins his next last 2 fights. I wonder if people in this forum will admit that he did a good job with no excuse and give him credit.

    Why do you hate Oscar?

I love the guy and let's remember some of the great fights he's been in and exactly what sort of SHITTY state Boxing was in only a few years ago with the best swerving the best etc and the fights we wanted simply not being made.
Oscar and Goldenboy are pretty much the saviours of the fight game over the last few years and he's giving us the fights we all wanted to see.
Just don't see how anyone could possibly hate on him and Oscar realised just how big a threat UFC/MMA was to the fight game and did something about it.
The man deserves nothing but respect imo.

There is no denying, it should have happened, but whether it materialises or not at this stage, it's irrelevant, it should have happened four years ago and in my opinion would have served both fighters legacies far better than fights versus the likes of Forbes, Hopkins, Mayorga and even Taylor.

To be fair though I will say that Winky is a guy NO ONE has really been in a rush to fight....Not saying guys are afraid to fight him just not looking to do so in a hurry....Fighting Wright is a no win situation....You will never look good against him even if you beat him...and there is a better then average chance you won't beat him......

Hopkins waited until Wright followed him to 175....Taylor was given a gift....

IMO it was really the Trinidada fight that let everyone kknow what a bad idea it is to face him

The Trinidad fight reminded me of a party that thousands of people showed up for only to realise there was not going to be any festivities.

Winky boxed so well that Tito was too embarassed to retire, going out like that would have been shameful!
And although Winky's stock rose, he never really ignited the interest of the audience as his safety first style and well employed tactics, completely negated Tito's aggression.

Still I feel a win over Ronald would have really cemented the hypothesis that DLH > tITO.

Yeah well we all know the reason why even after the Tito win Wrights stock never rose with the public is his defensive style....IMO nothing more nothing less because he is one of this era's best....

    Agreed on the DLH>Trinidad

lets analyze dlh for a minute

    his losses

tito---total horseshit period...won that fight so easy it was ridiculous

mosely 1--well fought between 2 hof guys in their prime----friankly it was a draw in my eyes

mosely II-- see trinidad, tito et al. just a ridiculous decision. look at shanes eyes when decision was announced--he was more shocked than anyone

b-hop---sh/be commended for just taking the fight--up on one judges card at time of stoppage (and mine) landed more clean blows on hop than anyone i have seen lately including joe cal and JT

pbf---i thought he won and so did many --but not total sham so i accept it. no shame in this loss dlh inactive for a while and pbf # 1 p4p

so instead of 5 losses should have 2 and 1 draw , 3 losses at worst or at best 1 loss (hop) 1 draw (mos 1)

and he had some close wins---ike, sweet pea, sturm but none of those were that objectionable

he has also had some real highlight reel kayos against quality guys like rafael ruelas, nando, chavez 2x, mayorga, paez, gatti, hernandez

hes an all time great one of the best p4p

oh yeah the only guy in history to be world champ in 6 classes

I still can't figure out how alot of people thought he lost against Whitaker.Maybe it's me but to me he was much more active and Whitaker was comfortable with just dodging punches.I mean people say Willie Pep once won a round without throwing a punch I say how if the other guy threw a punch and landed then the other guy won the round. This is Fighting people not dancing.I just can't score points for someone who is looking good I give it to the guy who throws punches.I am probably the only guy who saw Sam Saliman draw with Winky Wright. Why because of activity.Anyway I do have one thing to say in favor of Oscar who didn't he fight. Many of you will say Winky Wright I say look at the interview right after the Vargas fight he said "Even Winky Wright is saying I don't want to fight him heh if the oppurtunity present's itself I will". My case being here is there was supposed to be a fight shortly after that but Winky turned it down because it wasn't enough money.
