If a fight with Margarito (or Cotto) can't be made, I think it's better for Williams to go after Daniel Santos at 154...

Have alot of respect for Santos, but I think Williams at Jr.Middle is a beast.May be way to sharp for him at this point.

Yep, it's a winnable fight for Williams and he can make a statement here if he wins by defeating the guy that defeated Margarito... Sort of rubbing it in... Plus Santos is a beltholder...

It will be a good fight... a war...

Williams is drifting to where the money is at.....and it is not here with Santos Imo.I think Williams takes Santos out, just too fresh and sharp. He really has the best of both worlds but I wonder if that weight roller-coaster will take a toll ?

To be honest Daniel Santos didn't beat Antonio Margarito and got a gift decision IMO, as for Paul Williams its funny because he is now in the same position Antonio Margarito was, i think he should stay between 154-160, Welterweight drains him too much. I would love to see Forrest vs Williams i don't think Forrest is the kind of guy to duck anyone.

Pardon me, but Williams had his time to shine...

After he beat Margarito it was the time to shine the time to strike while the iron was hot.
Remember he spent like 8 months just sitting around crying that no one wanted to fight him?
Then once he does fight he got beaten by CQ?

I remember posting about this some time back....

The same thing happened with Margarito, he got so into this whole no one will fight me that Margarito stood in inactivity for so long.

I've often said that also has to do with their Management they should have kept Williams busy after the Margarito fight but they didn't and they paid the price.

Mick I couldn't agree more. Both Margarito and Williams both should have been taking easy mandatories, etc. instead of claiming 'no one will fight me.' Imagine if Williams, after winning against Margarito, had the next month blasted this Andy kid out from Minnesota??

I am not saying fighters should just want these mis-matches, but taking easy fights and fighting regularly is much better than inactivity and ring-rust.

I agree with you on the aspect of these guys should be fighting more often...And yes not the mis-matches but there are plenty of guys ranked in the top 20 even that could put on decent bouts with them....

Problem is everyone thinks they should only get the big pay-day fights and nothing else...

I'll doubt he will accept it and why should he ? Joshua Clottey IMO is still a high risk/low reward fight, but props to Williams if he does accept it. But i'll doubt he will move back down to Welterweight to fight someone who hasn't really got a big name.

It won't happen because Arum refuses to do business with Al Haymon, Williams' manager. It's the same reason Williams-Margarito II isn't happening anytime soon. Dan Rafael had a blog about this not too long ago.

I agree. I think this is why Williams lost the first fight to Quintana. He took too much time off after his fight with Margarito looking for the big money.

That said, I think his team has realized that in order to force the big money guys into the ring with him, they are going to have to keep him active and on TV. Hence the Kolle fight on Versus and the fact that he will be back Nov. 29 on HBO (opponent to be determined). As long as he stays active and keeps winning, the money guys will have to fight him eventually. If he beats his Nov 29 opponent (probably will be either WBO mandatory Michael Jennings or Verno Phillips for his 154 pound title), I have a feeling we'll see Williams-Mosley early next year. It is the only money fight available to either at 147 or 154 with Cotto and Margarito head towards a June rematch.
