He didn't coward out he just wanted to chill some more. If De La Hoya beat Pacquiao we would be talking about the upcoming Hatton-De La Hoya fight.

He turned it down cuz he said Oscar was to big. Now after Oscar-Pac all of a sudden Hatton says he would of beat him too. LOL. Sure Hatton. Sure

Haha he would have done, he was a sitting target for pac so what makes you think it would be different for hatton.

I guess what VD is trying to say is Hatton was afraid to gamble unlike Pacquiao. I mean, let's be honest... nobody knew Oscar was gonna show up looking that way on fight night.

Pac had the perfect game plan for Oscar
Yes, a perfect plan: fight the biggest boxing name out there who's out of gas (like Pac and his team said all the time) and way passed his prime, add that big name to your resume with not so much effort, and cash your career's biggest paycheck.

Hoya should announce his retirement now, he has to grab this perfect moment... He has the ideal reasons to retire now... He's just been annihilated, trashed, embarrassed, destroyed, humiliated, obliterated and totally wiped out by a midget in his very last fight... He don't have it anymore in the highest level, he can't pull the trigger anymore...

Hoya will do good in boxing promotion...

I think he will announce his retirement tomorrow. But, I think he will fight again in a year or so.

I believe Oscar should retire and stop stealing from the fans. As a boxer, it has been a long time since Oscar has put on a great, jaw dropping, hall of fame performance, yet he still puts on these pay per view goldmines and makes money while the fans get robbed. This has gone on far too long and he should focus on getting his boys (Mosley and Hopkins) more fights, since they clearly are more interesting and exciting in the ring than Oscar is.

Oscar, without a doubt, will fight again, even if he says he will retire during the press conference. Oscar is motivated by one thing only: money. And since Oscar could make money if he simply stepped in the ring with a punching bag (literally or figuratively-however you want to take it), he will DEFINITELY be back in the ring soon.

Yep. Oscar won't retire just yet. De La Hoya vs Chavez will be a huge attraction.

I just spoke to my inside source.... supposedly Oscar is holding a press conference today to announce that the cross-dressing photos were real.

Default it's official, DLH is retired

Oscar De La Hoya announces retirement from boxing - ESPN

gonna miss seeing him fight, but understand fully that if he continued it would not be the same DLH that was a great. Good luck to him as a promoter and hope he does keep up the good work, honestly might be one of the few people that gets inducted into the hall of fame for 2 categories

I'm not a fan of his, but there's no denying he created mainstream interest like no other fighter since Tyson, and in a much healthier way.

Watching Pac tee off on without response him was a sad sight and it's unfortunate that was his last moment in the ring.

He did great things for the sport of boxing and deserves to be remembered as a great fighter who always sought to take on the best.
