I think he struggles at Middleweight, but I'd give him a decent chance still, Super Middle is a step too far, although I'd love to see him give it a go! I'm sure he would cause a few problems on his way.
Are you kidding me ? a 5'6 Super Middleweight ? who started at Flyweight ? just realize what your saying. He didn't even legitmately fight Antonio Margarito at Jr Middleweight, and no one even knows if he can make Jr Middleweight comfortably.

Yet your already talking about the possibility of him at 160 and 168 ? there's no chance in hell he would get anywhere near that weight and be in good shape.

Manny Pacquiao is a great fighter but he's not super human, there's limit to how far he can go. And he's reached it.

I know what your saying, I even agree with you. But the point is, the guy is super human.

Most of us have been saying for years: "he can't go any higher". But he has.

Yes the Marg fight had a catch weight, but it wasn't as if he was drained, those 4 lbs would have made Marg more durable, but not any better. The outcome undoubtably would have been the same.

Maybe I just want to see Pac beat up, but I want to see him at least attempt to beat more guys at even higher weights. I want to see him go higher and higher until he loses. He can stay at the same weight for all I care.

this fight would never happen because martinez is in his prime and that's not pacquiao's mantra to fight prime fighters. martinez is just hoping for the fight but bob arum isn't a fool, he doesn't want pacquiao badly beaten up and retired.

i think this fight would be competitive for a couple of rounds but after that, martinez' power would show and would KO pacquiao in the middle rounds. if they are going to fight for pacquiao's jr. middleweight title, i hope martinez falls for this catchweight crap again. at 154, martinez ass rapes the little anointed midget.

Pac's limit should be 147. He could beat guys at 154 but will absorb great damage in doing so.

He'll be in a serious risk if he tries 160.

It's not a catch weight per se. 154lbs is the Jr Middleweight limit. It's not a negotiation. It is pre-negotiation chatter from Martinez to entice Pacquiao. Martinez's promoter is just laying out the premise to fight Martinez should Pacquiao's first preference fails to materialize. I didn't here anyone complaining about the Williams/Martinez II fight, being Title fight, and at a catch weight.

As far as arguments for being weight drained goes, his last 5 fights were:

    11/20/10; Williams - 156
    4/17/10; Pavilik - 159.5
    12/5/09; Williams - 157
    2/14/09; Cintron - 154,
    10/04/08; Bunema - 152.5

154+ ".?" is right there for Martinez so you can get over the catch weigh nonsense. If ever there is serious talk about a match, you can bet Team Pacquiao will shoot for a much lower weight like 150lbs. (Then you can start with the catch weight crap) Their incentive to go for the higher weight of 154+ is a 9th weight-class trinket, but my guess is they would rather opt to for a lower weight and take as much advantage as they can get away from Martinez. It is all moot at this point since there is nothing serious. I do expect this match-up however to grow in popularity as the hope for a Mayweather clash dies. I also think you are completely misreading Arum. I think Arum is very crafty and cunning. I think Arum is just paving the way for future negotiations to sway them in his favor.

I guess the catch weight statement may be argued as all recent Margacheato fights been at 147 except for the fight previuos to Pacman. Years ago Margacheato returned to 147 after loosing with Santos at 154. Everytime Pacman go up in weight we think that he will loose badly and we have been wrong one after the other. There will be a limit and I believe his body reached it, but he can still give the weight advantage and win. A fight with Martinez should be probably the biggest challenge up to this moment and if he wins he is super human. I am not positive that Floyd will accept the fight at least until he is broke.
