Erics, why did the division get more interesting since Haye has been around? Haye has fought Valuev, Ruiz and Harrison. We can agree that those fights were quite dull. The only conceivable reason the division has got more exciting is the amount of trash Haye talks is mindboggling, and, therefore, he makes it hard not to notice him, which sheds some light on the division.

OK let me get this straight....there's a guy that can now pull 20K fans vs a guy that has regularly pulled 50K fans and you're telling me the guy that gets 20K fans is the one "99% of the population would rather watch"? I hate to break it to you pal, but the ticket sales seem to differ from your assessment.
Sad really....enjoy watching your boy get KTFO
Don't you think those numbers may be relative to the population size doing most of the buying?
Germany and the Ukraine's combined population eclipses Britain's so of course he is going to have more potential buyers. It doesn't mean to say that proportionally he has more or that it is a measuring stick for who is the more crowd pleasing fighter.
That's all irrelevant though, really... the fact is that globally the two fighters together are a bigger draw than any of the fights that either has been in. We'll know for certain when we get the numbers of the fight and find out how much Wlad has earned and comparing them to his past figures, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if this topped them all.
I'm not sure what all the hand bags are flying for to be honest... both fighters are going to make good bank, probably their best... and it's an interesting match up, haye is an underdog but brings enough to the table to make it exciting and posibly bring an upset and Wlad is technically and tactically sound (and a fucking beast!), if a little boring but has enough vulnerability with his fragile chin and lack of gritty fighter's instinct when hurt that their could be drama.
As long as they make good bank and entertain the crowds who cares? handbags down ladies. Enjoy the show.
As far as I am concerned this is the Acid Test for Haye in the HW division.
However I wouldn't back a horse which is going to be running its last race and I cant back Haye he did what needed to be done to secure the fight and another payday.
IMO he should of fought another big heavy before stepping up to the Klitschkos, not Harrison but the money was there and the fans(sky) made it easy to happen.
Instead of gaining a bigger fan base in UK, because lets face it nobody else was interested, it actually backfired and a few blokes felt ripped of on the PPV.
I dont get this whole I am going to retire in 2-3 fights, its not like the guys are fighting even 6 times a year, does it really increase their pay packet.
Really eager to see this come off, and wont be disappointed if either fighter wins.
I just hope to god its not another deer in the headlights, like what happened to Ordinary.
I'll be rooting for Wlad which should be interesting after everybody's had a few beers.
Think I'll leave the betting out of it this time round, other than a couple of quid on a KO in the 8-9th round.
(good odds)
Lost too much betting on boxing when a brit gets involved.
Wlad is a legend has come across really well so far I am liking the guy more and more.
It would all depend of the opponent. I'd much rather watch Wlad fight a legitimate (as legitimate as they get these days) contender than watch Haye beat up a walking corpse like Harrison, but if the situations were reversed I'd obviously rather watch Haye.
Opponents aside, Haye is a more exciting fighter than Wlad. He's more athletic and seems more vulnerable, which makes him more interesting in the ring. That being said, I don't think he's been a very exciting fighter at heavyweight. The Ruiz fight was fun, but Barrett was a slaughter, Valuev was - again - one of the worst fights I have ever seen, and Harrision was an embarrassment. Haye was much more exciting as a Cruiser. Would I rather see him than Wlad fight a random top 10 Heavyweight? I would say yes, but that doesn't mean Haye is a super-exciting, division-saving fighter, because he is not.
All this stuff aside, I'm really looking forward to this fight. I literally can't remember another time I was legitimately excited about a HW fight, but that's not solely a result of Haye.
look man, i cant take anything seruiously you say about wlad because of your bias
i would hazzard a guess if you break down the numbers you would probably be wrong
and i would also say that if the fight were any other country than germany the split would be overwhelming in hayes favour
Officially the only saddo who has had a girlfriend
I am starting to like Wlad more and more - watched his BBC interview on iplayer last night where he gave the woman anchor a kiss.
Hard not to like him really.
What do people think the result would have been if Wlad had fought Audley Harrison by the way ? I don't believe he woul dhave taken him out in three rounds
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate
Wlad took Ray Austin out in 2....I think he'd take Harrison out earlier.
But that was just a fight to drum up interest in the WBA title holder's own country...its not like Wlad's never done that...oh wait he hasn't, because he doesn't need to con people into liking him.
When people say "Wlad is boring" they mean "no one can challenge him" ...the haters will say he's boring still, but the guy is such a good fighter half his opponents are beat before they step in the ring. Wlad is a dominant champion with nobody out there to truly test him, not even the guy that holds the WBA title, the fight won't be close.
Call me someone who believes that Haye has built his career on hyping/promoting himself. He's managed to win a crusierweight title and pick up a HW strap, but lets be realistic here, his 26 pro fights and rather ordinary accomplishments in the ring hardly justify the status he's being given by some of his fans.
As for Haye's "appeal" being greater than Wlad's, perhaps Haye wins some kind of popularity contest in the UK, but I just don't see this clown ever having or developing a worldwide fanbase.
Like him or not, most boxing fans know who Wlad Klitschko is = the recognized HW champion of the world, flakes/pretenders like Haye, just come and go.
