    Default Former Haye Fans perspective.

Until Saturday night, I was a massive Haye fan, having followed him for years through the cruiser weight division and into the heavyweights.
I used to be able to ignore all the trash talk and mark it down as a PPV sales pitch.
I honestly thought he had the skills to trouble Wlad, if not beat him.
I was pretty embarrassed by his performance and lack of aggression on Saturday night, but was willing to accept that Wlad was much the better fighter and easily deserved the win.
What really got my back up, was the "little toe waving" and excuse making from Haye.
You are a heavyweight world champion, who has just been schooled by a much bigger and better opponent, just accept it, show a little humility and respect, and go home.
Waving the life threatening toe injury around straight after the fight, when the adrenaline is still pumping is one thing. But to stand on the desk at a press conference a few hours later is something totally different.
Surely a doctor or his management should have told Haye, that the best cure for a broken toe is to man the fuck up!
If Haye continues boxing, and holds his next fight at the bottom of my garden, I will draw the curtains.
If he does get a rematch, I hope Wlad bangs him on his arse in the first round.

    Yours Sincerely

    FTMatty

I lost a bit of respect for him harping about his toe... I can tell you from my experience fighting with a partially dislocated shoulder that with all the adrenaline flying around I doubt he felt his toe that much.

He should have just kept his mouth shut.

I have to say though... Haye didn't stand in front of Wlad because he wasn't strong enough to... If he was more aggresive and let his hands go he'd have been KO'd for sure and he knew it... so he was trying to move laterally and land a fight changing shot from the outside... I said before the fight he'd do this and he did - because he couldn't do much else.

He could have taken a bigger risk and maybe increased his chances of landing something big... but the risk of a KO would have went up close to 100% in my eyes.

To say you're embarrassed and ashamed for him? You were never a fan in the first place. You're a fair weather fan in that case who got suckered in by the hype.

I can vouch he has been a Haye fan for a long time. And I can vouch he well pissed off re Saturday night - maybe the red mist will clear, maybe not.

So people don't turn on their heros then and become ashamed ? I think they do. It can go the other way too aswell.

Sorry mate but anybody who makes big statements like that must have been pretty stupid and gotten carried away with all the prefight talk... it was never going to be Rocky 4.

You must have some arsehole/bottle your self if you're 'ashamed' of Haye, a former cruiserweight fighting a guy with the physical presence of Wlad... Like I said it was never going to be a dog fight, next time take prefight talk with more than a pinch of salt.

I'm not saying he did brilliant but there is some pretty big talk going around from heart broken fans who got carried away with the hype... bunch of fucking jilted boyfriends/fair weather fans the lot of you!

the loss isn't the issue, Wlad is a great fighter, who I knew Haye would struggle against.

BBC - Newsbeat - David Haye: 'I'm not blaming Klitschko defeat on toe'

Of course he is going to have something to say... I'd rather he hadn't but if it's made you do a complete 180 on being a fan when the loss haven't then you're either extrmely reactionary or weren't a real fan to begin with.

    Absolutely not.
I'm embarrassed by his post fight conduct and toe waving. I used to be proud to sing Hayes praises in a number of heated arguments over the years, how can I possibly be proud of a fighter that cries about a little toe??

The way Adam Booth is talking saying Haye should retire, I think he knows there is no future.

He shouldn't have mentioned the toe. But he admitted Wlad was better than him. He's in a no win situation now though.

"I didn't blame the loss on the injury. The reason why I lost is because Wladimir was better then me, he landed more shots," Haye admitted.

    FtMatty,

To the extent that you are admitting when you were wrong about a fighter, bravo. You are one of few who do that on this board. Good for you though. Cheers.

Have your 3rd cool click on the post from me, and loads of respect for manning up.
While it's cool to have blind Haye fans in here still defending the guy and livening up the place, it's also refreshing to find someone who can see facts for what they are.

    Cheers.
