Mike Perez vs Magomed Abdusalamov

So that was pretty good fight huh

It was a good fight. It was not only me who remarked on Perez having underachieved before but he showed his potential in this fight. It is tragic that the results for his opponent are so devastating but Perez himself did employ more head movement and some decent boxing skills. Work rate like that will be way too much for many other heavyweights but you have to worry that injuring someone else like that may affect him psychologically and leave him a little gun shy. Obviously at a time like this most of our thoughts are with the big Russian and his family.

For sure, Perez is a really solid fighter but still a bit of a question mark imo. He definitely showed some slickness and mixed up his attack nicely, but defensively there isn't a whole lot to talk about. Tragic as the result was, I think Mago gave him a pretty good opportunity to shine and fact is he still got hit a lot and run close, there are a lot of guys he could/should fight before Wlad.
