Ive backed this fight to go the distance and Alvarez on points. Alvarez wont have as big a size advantage as he usually does and I really question his punching power against men who are the same size as him. I think Smith has a far better chance of beating Alvarez than Brook did of beating GGG but the odds dont reflect that. I fear Smith needs a KO though with judges unlikely to like his work

Fair play to Joe Gallagher for trying to get into Team Canelo's head, but not being funny, who listens to Joe Gallagher? He's full of wind and piss! He KNOWS there's a very strong chance Canelo doesn't make the weight and the fight WILL go ahead. Smith will be weighed in with a few more coppers and keep his title.
The only thing I'm not altogether certain of is the result. If Canelo comes in on weight , Smith has a great chance. If Canelo comes in over, Smith still has a decent chance IMO, just depends how (de)motivated he is .
Canelo won't have as big a size advantage on fight night as he normally does.

Canelo has never weighed in over 155, and he's never missed that or come in heavy for any fight that I'm aware of. Haven't even heard of him needing extra time to make weight, or anything like that. I'm not sure why the one pound is such a talking point for this one?

Yes, all free! Woke up early to watch Golovkin last weekend. All sports are free here, just the time difference to adjust for meaning I skip things like football.

Only action Saturday night but putting this empty card on a $60 PPV is becoming the punchline of Canelos career. He has to really stop surrounding himself with Golovkin KO victims in support roles for one thing . For all the right reasons I hope Liam refuses to read the script and keeps his head out of the clouds and moment..just do work one single round at a time.

I think it is because he only tends to fight people who are a lot lighter than him, he won't have such an advantage this time so people assume he will miss the weight in order to blow up bigger than usual.

Fair enough. I wasn't saying otherwise about his opponents, although Lara is a good natural JMW that he beat fair and square, and nobody had any problem with the 155 catchweight for Cotto beforehand. I think that weight was used just so he could parade around as middleweight champ, not because he had any trouble making 154. If he comes in heavy for this I'll eat crow I guess, but there is no evidence that making the weight will hamper him, and I don't think he needs an unfair advantage to beat Smith myself.

Canelo has weighed as much as 175 on fight night (unofficially) so, he'll be a lot bigger than Smith on fight night.... And I agree w/ the poster that said Smith will need a KO to win and keep his belt... I'm rooting for Smith to score the upset KTFO and for this PPV to tank..... There's no way this fight card should be a PPV, it's pretty lame top to bottom....

Looks like both made weight. Not a very interesting fight but I will stream it and watch it while I watch football (American football to you non Americans). Smith isn't known as a big puncher and Canelo has a solid chin so I'm guessing there will be no knockout. And if that's the case, he won't lose on the cards.

I think the scale was rigged via remote detonator, it subtracted 10 pounds from Canelos actual weight. He'll probably enter the ring 200 pounds and be allowed to use flying knees.

I'm definitely hoping for the buys to tank also, it's a dreadful card for a standard PPV, pure garbage really. Gabe Rosado vs Willie Monroe as the co main? Fuck off.

Rather significan't size difference at the weigh in. It looked like a small man and his taller little brother.
