Beating micky ward and a junior witter who had just fought in a 4 rounder does not make you world class. Mayweather looked far from the best fighter in the world in his only 2 outings at welter..but he got the W. So did Ricky Hatton. Its about time people respected that.
I'm sorry, mate, are you joking? Margarito, Judah, Shane, Mayweather and possibly Baldomir are all better than Collazo. It's the Shane part that's most ridiculous in your post though. Sure, he's a little past his prime, but if he were back down at 147 he'd get some of his speed back; he's more skilled than Collazo; and he's WAY more powerful than Collazo (in fact, every single WW fighter you mentioned is WAY more powerful than Collazo). If you think Collazo is so great (by virtue of his performance against Ricky), then you must think that he's a top 10 p4p fighter (as I suppose you think Ricky is), right?

Also, for the record, Ricky didn't "outbox" collazo either, so what's your point?

His shite performance against Collazo was a backwards step on his ultimate goal of trying to set a date for PBF too. It did nothing to convince anyone new that he was worthy, or to heavy up the purse for such a fight.
hmmm one post your complaining hes moving down and the other states hes no good at welter... try and be consistent... or people may mistake you for a hater

On the contrary, mate, all I said was that he was bad in his first fight at welter. I don't doubt he'd be better a second time out, but not if he jumps back down in between. He said it himself after the fight--"I need to grow into this weight."

For the record, I don't think he's a great fighter. Good, but not great. That's based on watching his performances, not how I feel about his personality or the way he looks or anything. I do think he's usually entertaining to watch though, and I'm happy to watch his fights. I don't think that makes me a hater--I just disagree with those on here who are convinced that he's a top 5 p4p fighter.

i think he sucked at welter... he is a light welter IMO

and the fact of where he goes from here all depends on the next guy hes fighting... all i know is hes in Florida and then jetting off to be Ringside at the Corrales - Castillo fight... but as Cotto is Penciled in for the winner of that well lets face it Casttilo is gonna win.

im not sure where he goes from here... maybe forced into a rematch with Collazo as hes all that free... I HOPE NOT... cant see the point... to prove a point to armchair critics who wouldn't give ricky any credit nomatter what he did.

Fair enough, mate. Who do you want him to fight next, then--not fantasy matches, but likely available ones.

To put this into perspective, Ricky entered the ring against Stewart at 146, against Oliveira at 148 and against Tsyzu at 147 (Tszyu was 149). Against Collazo, Hatton entered the ring at 160. It was an amateurish mistake by his whole team (and TV backers) to move up in weight at such short notice when his only problem making 140 was often having to eat upto seven meals a day during camp to keep the weight up near the 140 mark!
    Complete BS!

I disagree that he was a boring fighter, but i respect that people have different opinions.  The fights i guess you'd label him boring are Tua, Holyfield, etc... Points wins.  But what about the other fights i.e Ruddock, Grant, Galota ete.
Ali could be boring at times and he was the greatest!
Lewis was technically very good against Tua especially.
you named 3 fights that he showed what he was about... just a shame i had to sit through the rest

just not for me im afraid

i guess i just like fighters over boxers
Sorry to re-open this but i've only just logged back in.
I think you're one of those that show ignorance towards Lewis, ok i named 3 fights, but i put etc on the end. Rahman, Mason, Tyson etc...

Lewis deserves credit for his achievements, and i would certainly not label him a boring fighter.  Yes, he was a thinking fighter and possibly could have done more against Holyfield, Tua, and Tyson (with regards to knocking out Tyson sooner), but the bottom line is he won those fights and beat every fighter that he faced.  Sure there are some dubious decisions in his favour, but isn't that the case with most every fighter?

Ok who's Judah come close to beatin who's top ten p4p? Baldomir better skilled than collazo? really? are u blind? Jus bcos he beat 'super' zab judah? I suppose the 9 fighters that beat baldomir are all better then collazo too. Hows the Shane Mosley remark ridiculous. How much speed do you think he's honestly gone regroup from droppin down 7 pounds? Its not the weight or the added muscle that slows him down. He's slowing down bcos his skills are declining. U see how slow he was against Cruz? You see how Vargas was starting to get through before the swollen eye? I don't think Collazo is a top ten fighter. I'm not sure Hatton even is, but maybe 3 world titles in 10 months proves otherwise.

I'm quite and optimistic British Boxing fan, I've always rated Hatton and Calzaghe highley, although I'm not a big fan of Lennox Lewis, I don't really consider him British because he fought for Canada as an ameture.

I can assure you that if he does stay at welter he will be a far tougher proposition next time out.
if that was the case...how in the hell did he get up to 160?..if 7 weeks prior to a fight that was supposed to be at lt welter? Wouldn't he be trying to make weight at that time? so hatton was lining up to fight another bum and HBO made him switch opponents? If it is going to take time to grow into the weight HOW/why was he 13 lbs over the 147 wt just 1 DAY AFTER THE WEIGH IN!?!? do you're damn homework...you don't gain that kind of weight without knowing ahead of time...unless...Hatton is on STEROIDS.....that would make sense...
It feels good to be back home.

It's the same people over and over bashing on Hatton. They're passionate about it too. It's kinda funny. They're just Haters. Let them have PBF.

I wouldnt say all the yanks on here have a thing against Ricky
Mostly Jtrock and Lawhoops are the ones who slate him.

Ive said it before im not british and its got nothing to do that Ricky is british that i like him.
he is a great fighter and comes to win each every fight and runs from no one.

he has called out PBF who is a greedy scared bitch
hatton conducts himself very well outside the ring aswell and is a likeable guy.

im not a fan of Audley Harrison and he's british

is it because that we have more european champs than ever before that is getting at these certain yanks.
