I don't think there is anything inherently less painfull/brutal/dangerous about 15 rounds instead of 12 rounds...I think 15 rounders may need to be brought back to get fighters in better shape.

I figure at the very least an odd number of rounds makes it less likely for us to have a draw or any more controversy than boxing already has.

I'm with you, but I think you mean "I don't think there is anything inherently more painfull/brutal/dangerous about 15 rounds instead of 12 rounds" But I get the point and I agree. Boxing is kinda like smoking. The more you smoke, the greater the risk. And yes it's cumulative, from the beginning. But there still is precious little convincing evidence that rounds 12-15 in world title fights between qualified competitors was a significant risk factor, compared to other rounds or other factors.

Tuck I hear where you are coming from, but the people who are organizing the weight loss, in my opinion, most of the time havent got a clue what they are doing. Boxers in most cases just go along with it, and are to brave for their own good. Every fighter I know, who has had an accident in Boxing since 89 in britain, wore plastics in training and struggled doing weight having talked to the living at length. To a man they didnt understand to what extent the risks they were taking at the time. I take your point, common sense isnt common

Definately not. The reason some fighters end up with damage after boxing is because of accumulative damage. 15 rounds in a tough fight with a lot of hard punches being landed, can cause permanent damage that can be seen years after retirement, not immediately. Even 12 rounds is a lot, but those 3 more rounds make a difference. Ali and Frazier would probably agree. Its just not necessary to go 15 rounds. Plus, do you really want to see 15 rounds in a heavyweight fight today?

I say yes. 15 rounds used to sort the men from the boys. Also how would we like it if they rduced football (soccer) matches to 75 mins? There would be uproar so why not in boxing?

They should be brought back! I still think there would be controversial decisions but not as many, plus it would clean out a lot of the pretenders imo

The later rounds of a fight are always boring. Bringing back 15 round fights will basically make us watch more of the boring boxers who cant knock their opponent out. I cant say that I would want to watch more action from any fights that have gone 12 rounds.
Also might make boxers start off slower knowing they will have to last more rounds.

Well what about fights like Hearns Leonard? that went 14 rounds and was an all time classic. If Gatti-Ward fights were title fights they would have been 12 round brawls. I think you are wrong on this front, some all time great fights were decided between the 12-15th rounds and plenty of drama was seen in them rounds!

If their fights would have been 12 rounds, you would have seen the action earlier because they would have gone all out earlier.

    Really

What about another 3 rounds of Chacon/ Boza-Edwards? Or Leonard/ Hagler? Hagler woulda stopped him! Quiroga/ Anifowoshe, Bowe/ Holyfield, Morales/ Barrera (all 3) & who could forget Vasquez/ Marquez 3? All fights of the year that would have been wonderful 15 rounders & fights I would have loved to have seen more action from... there are loads more!

15 rounders would be good only to help fighters Retire earlier in their careers or risk double vision and brain damage . Nevertheless they also separate the real fighters from those that could fluke a fight.
