Woah!!! I knew if Floyd cried wolf, Oscar would sign... What a sucker
Im fwoking gald he did though... What a match up, maybe not such a great fight but the potential match up has got my predictive juices on over flow!!!!

Okay, allow me to compose myself for a second

I’m not too sure about Oscars form, i mean he looked good against Mayorga but then again, so did Tito
No offence to Tito fans intended.

That being said, i cant help but feel that this is far too big a challenge for Floyd... Literaly.

I mean, Floyd was on his skates against a slow punching, short genuine Welterweighter...
What can he possibly do against a consummate, tall, well rounded LightMiddler?

Dont get me wrong, he's tactics were spot on against Baldy but that was Baldy... I was never one to sing Baldy's praises... His wins only proved two things... Gatti WAS washed up and Juda is on the slide after round 6.

Anyway back to Floyd v Oscar....
Floyd no doubt proved that his defence is the best out there, on par with Pernell IMO (Better in some ways) and I still think Floyd is virtually Left Hook proof. But that straight right is starting to land a bit and I’m assuming (not hoping!) that Floyd, for all the punches he has dodged, doesn’t have the whiskers to take a few good ODH Right handers.
Although, I would love to see Floyd actually take a full-blooded whack, and take it).
Obviously, it will be ODH’s game plan to stay on top of PBF and throw a ton of punches.

A high work rate and close proximity combat is a must. (Maybe that’s why ODH is taking a long time to prepare... Expect ODH to set up camp EARLY!)

Stamina is the first issue I have with Oscar, second is his Desire... Does he still have that burning heart of a TRUE champion? I dunno, against Mayorga, we wasn’t really given the chance...
Against Bernard? Well, its questionable at least.

For me, its a case of how will Oscar perform, all the variables lay on ODH’s tactics and condition as we all know Floyd is an absolute consummate professional and will enter the ring as he has done the fight before... Perfectly prepared.

Floyd’s wins... The ones that go 12 rounds anyway... Are based on building a healthy lead, and sustaining it.
Castillo, Juda and IMO Baldomir had their own successes early on at pressing Floyd and upsetting his rhythm. With that being said, there’s no reason why Oscar couldn’t do the same over 12 rounds...

If camp goes well for Oscar, I assume he has a damn good crack Hurting Floyd or outgunning him on route to a UD/SD/MD.

Of course I’m open to a calculated opinion

I've just read the 2 PBF and ODLH interviews, pretty unbelivable stuff, Mayweather HAS to wear Reyes gloves in the contract, WBC title may or may not be up for grabs according to oscar, and Floyd claims he has a month off during the camp with a damaged left hand, and he has no knuckle on his right ring finger. It also seems there's a lot of negotiation still to be done, and its a 100% Golden Boy promotion. I'm very excited, I'm going to have to check my man purse and see if I can get some $ together to see this one, looks like Vegas here I come

Heres one I found on FightNews.com

Oscar-Floyd is on for May 5!

    Monday, November 13 2006

    By Karl Freitag

Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather have reached an agreement to fight on May 5. The fight was finalized today. The bout will be promoted by Golden Boy Promotions. "We are not going to comment what the deal is," Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer told Fightnews.com. "It's a fair deal and if the pay-per-view hits the numbers which we anticipate it will, it will be new record payday for both guys.....It's going to be big. It's clearly the biggest fight in boxing and I think it's the kind of fight which will transcend and which will clearly capture the interest of the American public and the American sports fans, because it is Mayweather pound-for-pound number one fighter in the sport against Oscar, the most popular and biggest name in the sport. Actually I was looking today at Oscar's trophy case in our office and I was standing in front of one of the belts which was a ring belt that had 'Oscar De La Hoya, pound for pound' on it, and it was 1997. So here we are ten years later and the question is, can he do it again?"

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Oscar realizes this is a dangerous fight," continued Schaefer. "He realizes that he's going in as the underdog, but this is what exactly motivates him, this is what gets him going, this is what he is about and what his entire career is all about. Always going for the biggest challenges. I think that's what his active career was and that's what he'll be remembered for. The guy who always took on the biggest and the best."

How fucken true is that in red....?

Can someone tell me what size is the ring and which weight will the fight be? Also, are the Reyes the puncher's gloves??

I think Floyd will win, alot of us hope Oscar will win but when has he fought someone as fast or skilled as Floyd? You CANNOT use the Mayorga fight as a measuring stick in anyway shape or form. I expect Oscar to be tough for Floyd for the first 6 rounds but after that I expect Floyd's better stamina and Oscar's (presumable)rustiness. Boy doI want to see that left hook land though!!! Come on Oscar!!!!!!!

And although we are ALL excited about the fight, you really think it's going to be an exciting fight? IF Floyd is going to perform like that against Baldo, how do you think he will against Oscar?!??!?!

    I hope Oscar:

    lands the left hook REPEATEDLY

Makes sure it's a smaller ring

    Uses the puncher's gloves

makes sure the fight is at 154,147 and Oscar is going to be drained!

Oscar needs to use his pulling power here and make these things happen so he has a greater chance of winning! Gooooooooooo OSSSCCCAAARRRR'!!!!

Yeah id say a smaller ring is a must... Floyd would feel like his in with the lions!

I doubt that Left of oscars will land cleanly at all... Floys style makes him 99.9% Left hook proof
(theres a 0.01% chance that Oscar can throw the fastest Left Uppercut, Left Hook Combo in history )

But like Dans already said, Reyes gloves (already coined as "the punchers" glove) have been drwan into the contact

And if Floyd agrees to all of this.......My boy needs his props Throwing caution to the wind with his hands and ring size...

Seriously there is no doubt Oscar has the edge in POWER....But if you got those Lightly padded and smaller in the knuckle gloves with more padding in the wrist, thats gonna help Floyds accurate punches sneak in thru Oscars guard and also help Lump up and possibly cut Oscars face faster...Floyds not a One Punch KO guy but Floyds accumalitive punches sting and tear and just do a number on a guys face and very fast How much more with the Reyes gloves....Again the Mayorga fight didnt prove anything about if Oscar still has it or not to compete at the absolute highest level...

Mayorga let Trinidad beat his a** put his hands down and took unnecessary punishment, so I dont know how much Mayorga had going into that fight......

Oscar is 33 and is without a doubt a bad a** take on all comers decorated Hall of Famer..BUT Like I posted earlier think about who he has been in with and has took him deep in a fight...

    Prime Vargas

    Prime Quartey

    Prime Mosely

    Prime Trinidad

    Etc....

Those guys can war and punch....No one can seriously say that Oscar isint or already hasnt showed signs of falling off and taking this fight after a year of inactivity.....

Now Floyd is 29 in his prime will give Oscar all kinds of trouble..I look at the Mosely fights. Shane is fast, Strong and has a beard on him, Oscar had troubles...

Floyd is just as fast and more accurate and makes his punches count..Floyd is by far more technically sound than Oscar or Shane along with being a Defensive Phenom..... Oscar hasnt fought anybody nearly as slick or as fast on his feet as Floyd and the closest thing to that Style has been about 4-5 years ago, couple that with his defensive mastery..Oscar's gonna have to work harder than Floyd...We areall gonna see how Much Delahoya has in the tank...Man I love both these guys..

And I am thanking them in advance for this spring delight.....

    Well...it's finally signed.

The fight I most wanted to happen but probably least want to see...

Two reasons...#1: I don't want to see one of my favorite fighters lose his undefeated record.

#2: I don't want to see one of my favorite fighters of all time humiliated.

One of the two is going to happen...that's all I will say about this subject until the 5th of May when the DRBR breaks out.

Seriously...monumental moment in Saddo's history...Wacko's clamming the fwock up on this shit, with this very post, & that's all I got to say on the subject.

I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THIS FIGHT HAPPEN.

    For real. Either way...it's a shit outcome for me...unless it's a draw.

    Okay...I'm done.
