I think there both past it. But I think Vargas might be really shot, worse than Mayorga. But the weight suits Vargas better. At 147 Mayorga was a pretty good puncher, but his power has decreased as he's gone up and I really don't think much of it at 160. I think at that weight Vargas is the stronger guy, and more skilled.

Guess I'm leaning towards Vargas, although I dislike him and will be rooting for Mayorga.

Overall though, not that excited about it but it could end up being a good one.
Forget Vargas. Thought you were a Mayorga fan too. Stick by him. He can take a shot Vargas, even at 160.

If this fight happens (I hope not or at least not Pay per View), I believe Mayorga will KO Vargas. These 2 guys were not the same after fighting Tito... You can ask De La Hoya.

He also don't hit near as hard as Mayorga, and still KO'd Vargas. Mayorga by KO.

I don't know man but Vargas' chin has been suspect after Tito tapped it and he looked so slow last time that I don't know if it's a good idea for him to fight a big puncher.

Mayorga is no big puncher at 160. And he's just as slow

If the fight is at 160, im going with Vargas.

Actaully, more to the point, Mayorga shouldn't be fighting at 160!

    A bad case of Trinidaditus.

There is a possibility that Vargas will look better at a higher weight but he'll have to prove that.

I'm a big fan of both but I predict Vargas by UD or late stoppage from swelling or cut on Mayorga. I think Mayorga isn't heavy handed enough at 160 and Vargas has skill and defense on Mayorga.

I'm not making excuses for Vargas but maybe we should keep in mind the possibility of his hypothyroidism and how rapid, excessive wait loss can weaken even the strongest chins (Jake LaMotta in his last fight against Sugar Ray Robinson). In my humble opinion he took some good shots from Mosley in the first fight and good shots from Oscar before he was worn down and KOed. He may also be completely shot from the back problems and his wars with Tito, ODLH, Quartey, and Mosley. Winning this fight against Mayorga will go a long way to show that he isn't a shell shocked veteran.

In the Mosley/Vargas fight either the announcers or Vargas himself said he had a disk or two out in his back. He wasn't going to have surgery until his career is over. Which is rapidly approaching.
