Im a Calzaghe fan, and though what you say is not what I really want to hear, I cannot disagree with you. Your points are succinct and to the point. A Manfredo fight is a ludicrous proposition....

Calzaghe needs to make a big fight and if he isnt willing to go and look for the fights or even go across the Atlantic to get the big fights which he said he was willing to do, then that really is very dissapointing...

Previous payday's have very little to do with it, Kessler's payday for a fight against Calzaghe would also be a huge increase on his best ever, and ultimately, Kessler is trying to embarrass and taunt Calzaghe into coming into his back yard for the fight, and it won't work.
I think it's more a case of Kessler/Palle trying to embarrass and taunt Calzaghe/Warren into making then an offer for a fight in the UK - But it seems that won't work either.

Bloody shame that it won't if you ask me.
Damn right, if they can make a big offer for the fight in the UK, then that will be proper bo in my view, and I really look forward to it, and I hope it does work, if that is their aim.

I think everyone agrees that money rules boxing at the end of the day, and that the biggest market for boxing is the United States. So the simple reason it is being considered is that Manfredo is a bigger name in the States than Kessler. Make what you will of how that reflects on american fans. It is certainly Warren that is behind it, cause he's the one with the pound signs in his eyes.

I'm tired of hearing this Warren is behind it bullshit.  Warren is Calzcrappy's promotor.  He promotoes his fights and tries to make the most money possible.  He lets Calzcrappy know what fights he thinks are best for him and will pay him the most.  What he doesn't do is force his fighter to fight certain fights.  If the fighter doesn't want to. The Manfredo fight I don't doubt is Warren's idea.  But Calzcrappy does not have to take it if he doesn't want to.  Calzcrappy ain't no youngster.  He's been in this game for awhile.  I'm pretty sure he has say on who he fights.  Warren ain't his master.  He's his promotor.  If the Manfredo fight happens I'm blaming Calzcrappy's coward ass not Warren.

Add to that you have Calzaghe himself sounding far from enthusiastic about facing Kessler. You also have Lennox Lewis saying something along the lines of "Calzaghe's heart isn't in a Kessler fight".
Lots of small indications Joe isn't exactly pushing for it. - He might even be the one holding back, preventing it from happening.
Just think of the Lacy fight where it was the ppl around Calzaghe who had to work hard to CONVINCE him, that Lacy was fairly easily beaten.
