You post blanket statements like that all the time, and I can never quite work out if you have your tongue firmly planted in your cheek or not.

The US is trying it's best, but I wouldn't say it's light years in front of anyone else. That's quite a dangerous statement when you think about history in America (Slavery, cheating and genociding Indians, segregation and apartheid, sports colour bars, Vietnam conscription, ghettos, Watts etc etc. Europe and the rest of the world have their own dirty and sordid pasts as well, but it does you no credit imagining America is somehow better. Routinely referring to Arabs as towelheads, camel jockeys and sand niggers (as I have heard many many of your countrymen do on this forum alone) does give people a certain impression of you guys! Why don't you put all of your domestic crazies in Guantanamo, or is that for goddamn A-rabs only?

I lived in Chicago and Detroit when I was younger, and still travel across the pond regularly on business - I'm afraid that you live in a much more racist and divided society that we do on the UK, anyway. Mixed relationships are generally still frowned upon in most of the US, you don't see many kids mixing with other ethnicities, you have 'areas' where people of certain ethnicity live. If you go to a mall and go to a food hall, look at the kids hanging around - blacks sit with blacks, hispanics with hispanics, asians with asions, whites with whites etc.

Yes, there are going to be exceptions, but they stand out by their very rarity. Yes, big cities may be more tolerant, but most of the US is still rural middle-America.

But the one alot of people forget about is the low blow he gave to Carlos Baldomir before the fight even started. Everyone's alittle racist in certain ways unless you're not human. Hating someone for the color they were born with or where they were born is wrong. Affirmative action is wrong too. No one should get an advantage or disadvantage because of what race they are. As for gay people talking about their rights being violated, please say that to a 60 yr old black man who's lived in america his whole life. He'll say you have it better than you think.

Back on topic. I really don't think tyson was a villian until after prison and the whole ear-bitting thing. Liston definitely was. Everyone wanted ali to be suspended for dodging the draft and after 3 years they were all sick of themselves for letting it happen, i wouldn't call that a villian. Don king is for sure an out of the ring villian eventhough he promoted the greatest fight in boxing history ali-frazier III.

Great points X, I am proud of you, I agree with everything you said. I wish the British and the rest of Europe can alway's think like this, but it seems that you guy's only want to think like this when you feel like it. I am not British or American I am Brazilian (hence the name) but as someone that can give a non bias opinion on a racist society I can tell you that the US still has alot of racism but I can't tell you about the UK because I have never been there. It seems like the people of Europe despise the US for so many reasons but the main thing they like to say is that Americans feel as though they are better than everybody and that they want to rule the world and they look down on everybody else. And then you turn around and write a great essay stating how divided the US actually is. Which one do you actually believe, is it that we are so divided or is it that we stick together and look down on everybody else, I really can't figure out the European opinion on the United States, it seems conflicting in many way's. But the streets are not paved with gold over here, 80% of the population in the United States does not even have a political opinion on Europe yet alone thinking they are better than Europe. Less than 10% of the population actually run the country and they are all rich aryans that are very similiar to the rich aryans that run the UK and other European countries. They all look down on other races, the darker the skin gets the worse the treatment. When it comes to racism I am sure that the UK is very similiar too the US, but the resume the US has far more atrocities over the centuries than the Europe. Slavery in itself was a holocaust, just a longer one.

I do find it humorous that in the 1950's England set up a secret civil service committee that monitored non-white immigration....when the US used a ratio system in the 1920's and 1930's.

I don't know if 20-30 years counts as "light years" but it's interesting to think about. But then again we have ALL had race issues ....just don't be coy about it.




I didn't do it to wind people up, I just hope people realize the context of the situation...the 1900's and 1910's were a time of bigotry and racial violence .....everywhere that had more than one race. So I'll just leave it at that.
