Chuck was a collegeiate wrestler at Cal Poly State for four years....Chuck did lose to Quinton but it wasn't b/c of Rampage's tremendous boxing. Rampage has no amateur or pro boxing background. He too was a HS and JC wrestler. Just b/c Chuck doesn't utilize his wrestling background in his offense doesn't mean he isn't skilled on the ground. The fact that he has one of the best takedown defenses and abilities to stand a fight back up is a testament to his wrestling skills. Jackson wore him down and pounded the S*** out of him on the ground and in the clinch to secure the win via TKO (corner stopped the fight). Do a little homework next time.
1st of all Rampage trained with the Roger Mayweather for 4 months back in 2004.His stand up game was far better than Chucks.Yes they both were collegiate wrestlers but Chucks wrestling skills arent dominant.Chuck got rocked the entire fight! So WTF are you talking about him getting worn down,etc...You can take any boxer and teach him a basic sprawl b/c Chuck is not gonna get a submission.
Maybe you should think before you speak.
So four months of training with Roger Mayweather makes him a good boxer? Every MMA fighter has a boxing coach big deal, it doesn't make them world class boxers. For Chuck to consistantly stuff takedowns by Couture/Ortiz/Monson/Randleman etc would say to me that he is a pretty good wrestler at least defensively. There is much more to takedowns than double and single leg takedowns and takedown defense is more than a simple sprawl. The point of MMA is to use a variety of skill sets to make your opponent fight your fight. Chuck uses a pretty good wrestling skill set to keep the fight standing where he is the most potent. You suggested in your original post that Chuck couldn't beat rampage b/c he wasn't a ground fighter. The reality is that Jackson has wins over Randleman, Arona and Lindland; three of the best ground fighters in the business. But his most recent losses have come from great stand up fighters in Silva and Rua. You said Chuck had no ground game which is untrue; You said he got KO'd by Rampage also not true. If you can't watch that fight and see that Chuck was totally gassed by the end of the first round from Jackson's constant pressure and strength then I don't know what to say. And if you can't see that the fatigue lead to Jackson finally getting the takedown(his third or fourth attempt) and then pounding on Chuck till his corner threw in the towell then I don't think you have watched the fight.
