Chuck was a collegeiate wrestler at Cal Poly State for four years....Chuck did lose to Quinton but it wasn't b/c of Rampage's tremendous boxing. Rampage has no amateur or pro boxing background. He too was a HS and JC wrestler. Just b/c Chuck doesn't utilize his wrestling background in his offense doesn't mean he isn't skilled on the ground. The fact that he has one of the best takedown defenses and abilities to stand a fight back up is a testament to his wrestling skills. Jackson wore him down and pounded the S*** out of him on the ground and in the clinch to secure the win via TKO (corner stopped the fight). Do a little homework next time.
1st of all Rampage trained with the Roger Mayweather for 4 months back in 2004.His stand up game was far better than Chucks.Yes they both were collegiate wrestlers but Chucks wrestling skills arent dominant.Chuck got rocked the entire fight! So WTF are you talking about him getting worn down,etc...You can take any boxer and teach him a basic sprawl b/c Chuck is not gonna get a submission.
Maybe you should think before you speak.
Actually CHAMP Your a little off on this one, Quinton is my favorite MMA guy and I have seen the fight quite a few times and I'll post it here... Rampage wore Chuck down and he took quite a few shots from Chuck in the process... The key was to jump all over Chuck and not let him create distance to extend and get good leverage on his punches...

Sprawling is not as easy as you may think, its not something you learn in an 1 hour session of Grappling class, its a whole other technique and an integral part of Grappling since it takes tremendous balance, awareness and sensitivity to make yourself heavy and like a tree that is rooted 6ft in the ground, and if you do get taken down how to position yourself to get right back up again without allowing your opponent to get superior position on you

I cant stand Chuck Lidell and get frustrated cause he is an excellent grappler who is content with Kickboxing in a world that is so multi dimensional... But at the same time I respect him cause he is so predictable and yet no one has been able to expose him since Rampage did, I'm picking Jackson again but its not gonna be as easy as the 1st time..

Actually ROCK Rampage completely manhandles Chuck.Dana White was talking a lot before the fight...and when it came down to it,nothing in Chucks arsenal worked for him.He never had Quinton in trouble.
As for the sprawling...I wrestled in highschool and was 3x state placer...and I'm sure that within a day...your basic boxer could learn a pretty affective sprawl.More advanced grapplers tend to use to "whizzer".
I could careless about the UFC..I havent watched UFC since the Gracie vs Hughes fight.I didnt even know that there was gonna be a rematch between Liddell and Quinton.

No definetly not at its finest... Don Frye is just a Brick Shithouse and a brawler with decent wrestling skills... Don is a tough S.O.B though

So four months of training with Roger Mayweather makes him a good boxer? Every MMA fighter has a boxing coach big deal, it doesn't make them world class boxers. For Chuck to consistantly stuff takedowns by Couture/Ortiz/Monson/Randleman etc would say to me that he is a pretty good wrestler at least defensively. There is much more to takedowns than double and single leg takedowns and takedown defense is more than a simple sprawl. The point of MMA is to use a variety of skill sets to make your opponent fight your fight. Chuck uses a pretty good wrestling skill set to keep the fight standing where he is the most potent. You suggested in your original post that Chuck couldn't beat rampage b/c he wasn't a ground fighter. The reality is that Jackson has wins over Randleman, Arona and Lindland; three of the best ground fighters in the business. But his most recent losses have come from great stand up fighters in Silva and Rua. You said Chuck had no ground game which is untrue; You said he got KO'd by Rampage also not true. If you can't watch that fight and see that Chuck was totally gassed by the end of the first round from Jackson's constant pressure and strength then I don't know what to say. And if you can't see that the fatigue lead to Jackson finally getting the takedown(his third or fourth attempt) and then pounding on Chuck till his corner threw in the towell then I don't think you have watched the fight.

NO training with a boxing coach doesnt make you world class...but it was brought up that Quinton had no amatuer background. For you to say every MMA fighter has a boxing coach...I gurantee that none are on Rogers level. The topic was about Chuck fighting a HEAVYWEIGHT.I said that Chuck couldnt beat Quinton because he wasnt a better "striker".FYI I said Chucks wrestling skills werent dominant not that he didnt have any...so dont start talking out of the azz.SO WHAT if Chuck got fatigued!Should they have stopped the fight and gave him a 10min breather to make it fair?He got dominated by Quinton...so what do you think is gonna happen if he got in there with a heavyweight and couldnt take the fight to the ground? They KO people with 10-12 oz gloves.

actually you did say Chuck wasn't a wrestler right there. I don't know why you are getting so worked up. I agree that Rampage won the fight soundly. What I was pointing out was that it wasn't a KO. I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in Mayweather's coaching making a huge differnce in an MMA fight. There are several holes in basic boxing technique that dont translate directly to MMA. Regardless four months of training with Mayweather does not make a amateur or pro career nor would I call Rampage's punching in the fight the refined product of a professional boxing coach. He didn't win that fight b/c he was hands down a better striker he won it b/c he was in better shape and is a better athelete. He was able to impose his will on Chuck with a pressure offense that kept chuck off balance and unable to counter.
