Its not neccessarily the names but the results. He won but he didn't do it in any better fashion than someone before him so how done that make him so great? If he was great then...

He should have whooped Baldo so bad the ref stopped it.
    He should have stopped Judah.
He should have stopped Mitchell quicker than Kostya or at least Williams.
He should have stopped a worn out Gatti quicker than Oscar did 6 years ago.
He should have stopped Bruseles quicker than Zavala did.
He should of stopped Corely quicker than Cotto did.

He's won but he has done nothing to his opponents at Welterweight that someone hasn't done better.
He dominated ALL of them.He has only had 1 close fight...and has never been in trouble.Name a fighter who has never been in trouble??
Baldo KO'd Judah and look what Floyd did to Baldo...so you can't that just because he didnt KO someone,etc...that he has dont better.

Floyd did what he was supposed to in those fights...easily beat inferior fighters. My problem is when the whole "all time great" moniker is attached to Floyd. That would mean that he should be mentioned in the same breath as some of the great champions of the past. Now...as i have said...it could be a matter of the era Floyd came up in...it could be a matter of certain fights never having materialized for WHATEVER reason.....but ultimately....Floyd has not faced and beaten a GREAT fighter(s) or provided lasting moments/fights. Fair or not...history remembers those who have provided special moments and lasting memories. Think Ali...immediately you can recall several images/moments/places. Same for Leonard. As it stands RIGHT NOW...10-20 years from now...when someone mentions Floyd....are people going to jump up and say "man, you remember how he whooped Arturo Gatti!" or "wow. he sure embarrassed Carlos Baldomir!" Again...not trying to hate or put all the blame on Floyd. And who knows...maybe he will end his career with some truly special moments.

But who on this board calls Floyd an all-time great? I don't see anyone doing that. There's a difference between calling him the best fighter on the planet (which I do all the time) and calling him an all-time great.

Ali was funny when he hyped it up. Mayweather makes me want to kill him. He acts like a 2 year old. He demeans his talent when he acts this way. He brings discredit to himself and boxing. Floyd Patterson was a joy to listen to. mayweather makes me wanna puke.

Lets swap history and pit Mosley against Mayweather's resume and Mayweather against Mosley's. oh now Mosley becomes undefeated.

probably, but I can't see Floyd losing to Forrest what-so-ever. Mosely was given the 2nd fight against Oscar. And Winky, well, I can't say Floyd would win. But all the other bums Mosely fought, Floyd would have beaten too. All that said, Oscar poses a threat, but Mosely is the one who poses the greatest threat to Floyd.

All credit due to shane. Forrest just had him punked since they were kids, the same way Holy did Tyson.

I dont see ANY fighter frustrating and KO'ing Floyd.Period.Given Floyds talent, work ethic, trainer, and boxing history...you obviously are a Floyd hater.

Camacho would never beat Floyd. And in case you forgot, Floyd Sr. gave SRL a good run. Son is better than daddy was. Pryor would frusterate anyone, that's why he was ducked by SRL, and quite a few others. Hearns wouldn't frusterate Floyd, but has the power to KO him.

The only person that will beat floyd will either have the ability to smother him or get lucky with one really hard punch.

Im sorry but any of you guys who think Floyd Mayweather would have had any chance of beating Thomas Hearns are fooling themselves
To big to powerful massive reach advantage , just as fast , better boxer , Hearns KO'S Floyd inside 3 rounds for me.
but please give me your views guys as this is my opinion.

Hearns has reach, and power, and I can't say floyd would beat him. But, Hearns wasn't as fast. He had an akward style that worked to his advantage.

Hearns was much bigger and more powerful, and had longer arms, but he wasn't nearly as fast as Floyd or as smooth of a boxer. Hearns was a very good boxer, but wasn't as technical of a boxer as Floyd is.

I give Hearns a great chance against Floyd because he's so much bigger, and because Hearns' one big weakness was his chin, but Floyd probably wouldn't have the power at 147 or 154 to hurt him.

There is no such thing as a lucky punch. Even I've come to terms with Tarver/Jones II
