Hatton has struggled in a few fights of late, especially when he fought at 147, whilst Floyd has never really been given a workout of that magnitude in trying to hang on to his '0', and he's moved up a number more divisions than Ricky.
hatton is ring #8 right now so how would a victory propel him to where he already is

mayweather struggled against castillo trying to hang on to his 'o'

it seems like you have alot of respect for mayweather...a hatton win over him wouldnt warrent atleast a concideration for #1 for hatton..
I want HAtton to go out there and beat PBF, believe me I do, but despite Castillo's ranking with the WBC and the Ring, looking at that fight and the previous one, it's hard not to just cast doubts on how much Castillo really had left. And that, for me, means Hatton is probably just outside my own, personal top 10 p4p.

However, I think the manner of victory over Mayweather would have a lot to do with whether he was to be considered p4p no1, and if Hatton destroys Mayweather, then very possible, but not if he gets the nod in a tight fight.

My point earlier was more based on the fact that Hatton would fight Mayweather at 147, which is undoubtedly the best division in Boxing today.

Also, please tell me that people are joking when they say that Hatton has to beat Margarito to be considered p4p #1 lmao. Margarito is nowhere near a p4p list, so please, have a reality check until he defeats somebody truely considered to be a great fighter!

hatton is a legit top 10 p4p regardless of him fighting castillo .... and since he beat him the way he did it sure didnt hurt...

i agree that the way he wins would make a big difference... of him being say #4 or #1...

If hatton dominates or just completely controls the tempo, style of the fight with mayweather, hatton has to be #1 or #2.. i feel that way because of my respect for Mayweather.. i think he is our generation's best and i would expect mayweahter to win.. but if hatton wins convincingly ALOT of that unbeatable aura goes to hatton..

i dont think an '0' means everything but if ur undefeated and beat the undefeated p4p king by a ko, that makes your '0' that much brighter...

regardless of "polls in england" if hatton beat mayweather there is no way calzaghe deserves to be higher than hatton...

anyone who thinks mayweather is completely overrated needs to reevaluate how you judge boxers because your method is seriously flawed..
Polls in England? Are you taking the piss? Britain does not mean England-and if you think it does then get back to a geography class.

But Yes polls in the UK where these 2 fine fighters are from rate Calzaghe above Hatton. Got a problem with that?

lol got a problem w/ that lol your hilarious....

you are going to defend against the statement i basically said you dont even know how to rate fighters correctly by attacking the "poll in england" statement ... but if thats your angle of attack ok

ok "polls in england AND ireland AND WALES" dont mean shit except for a popularity vote.... THE RING RATING CALZAGHE #7 AND HATTON#8 IS ALOT BETTER ARGUMENT FOR YOUR POINT BUT SINCE YOU LIKE 'UK POLLS' I DONT GUESS YOU CARE ABOUT THINGS LIKE THE RING MAGAZINES P4P RATING LISTS...

all of the good posters that are on here would never defend there point based mostly on a poll where the fighters live ..none of the posters like say ICE would actually think these uk polls are accurate in any capacity....

you dont know sh@t about boxing and your debating skills are just as bad......
put that in your pipe and smoke it...

My debating skills are fine thank you. I was just pointing out your error.
Your lack of thought is apparent.

As your comparing a Welsh fighter and an English fighter then to get a fairer balance you wouldn't just ask English fans(seems quite simple) but welldone on using 'The Ring'.

I actually put up a poll on a UK based boxing site and Calzaghe won. So I'm basing my opinion on that.
Also my own judgement as Calzaghe is a more versatile fighter where as Ricky isn't.

FFS p4p is a subjective thing and everybody will have their own reasons and permutations of the top 10, and if they can back that up with opinion and a reasoned argument that is all is required, cause it isn't set in stone. Ultimately, what makes the Ring magazine's ratings any more valid than an ardent fan's views? Because it's on a piece of paper?

And why would a poll of boxing fans in the UK necassarily be not valid? We have some of the most knowledgable fans in the world, so I'm down with that.

Your poll is based on current standings....

The question is: if hatton beats mayweather will he be #1, and if hatton does beat mayweather i'm sure those poll figures of yours would change...

I agree Calzaghe is more versatile.. And if he beats kessler AND someone like b-hop or the winner taylor-pavlik fight, he will get his concideration for the top spot...

but as of now if hatton beats mayweather and calzaghe beats kessler in the same fashion hatton's win will be more impressive and hatton's past compitition is also more impressive...

thus hatton has a better claim to #1 than calzaghe if hatton beats mayweather... regardless of the calzaghe-kessler outcome...
