The point deduction in the 6th was stupid.

It had an impact, but Floyd won. Hatton was unable to deal with what was happening, and in the heat of the moment whats a fighter to do? Mayweather took it all in his stride.
it had an impact only in the fact that the WWF tactics he was looking to use and has used in the past weren't allowed. Did anyone honestly think they'd let him maul his opponent like he's able to do here? After that things fell apart.

I feel it had an impact as once Hatton had the point deducted he knew he was well behind and was very angry and got frustrated and went straight into PBF hand's and got picked apart.

But it has to go both ways, those elbows on the inside were horrible, the turning away was bad as well.

then don't lose your composure or go completely off your gameplan! If he slipped on the canvas and it was called a knock down would he still have reacted that way? People would be blaming the ref but also noting he should control himself.

Well, he hasnt "mauled" over "here" for a long time and Floyd really was initiating most of the holds in those opening rounds.

The point deduction was awful, but Hatton clearly won that round. It became a touch too desperate thereafter.

Floyd did what he had to do, and there can be no argument surrounding a knockout. But I will always be somewhat bitter about this fight.

Floyd controlled a situation always in his favour.

never said they were ok but Hattons looked more obvious. I'm sure Cortez was aware of Rickys 'style' and was keeping eye on him. Once they stopped holding and hitting he let them work on the inside, he didn't have to keep stepping in. He also warned Floyd about the elbows.

Stop blaming Cortez because Hatton wasn't good enough.

Blaming anyone other than mayweather for the reason hatton loss is really sad, if hatton had won none of this would even be in question. Cortez didn't hit hatton, he didn't put that turnbuckle in hattons way, and he didnt cause hatton to fall even after the fight had been stopped. It would be nice for once to ever hear someone say " (insert floyd opponet here) loss it was a great fight, he was the better man, this is just a setback i'll be back". Or something like that. Everyone was happy with cortez before the fight.

    Blaming cortez?
Im simply stating that cortez did not do his job very well on saturday. He deducted a point from hatton no warnings, broke up holds that were not even holds at the time, and never did squat on pbf elbows. so dont put words in my mouth ty.

Floyd was but Mar I'm bitter about the whole circumstances, All US officials and the injustice Hatton got on the night and the point deduction which made him so frustrated to start chasing Floyd and Cortez was an absoloute joke the way he dealt with it end of, he sucked up to Floyd all night for some reason and gave Hatton no chance, what about Floyds use of the elbows??.

Can you tell me why he deducted a point I know your a Mayweather fan but Mayweather acted like a twat that night falling through the ropes when the punch on the back of the head missed and Floyd deliberately turned backwards, what a joke!!

so its illegal to criticize a ref just because the guy who you were hoping to win, lost?
I mean, why is it so bad to say that i didnt like the way cortez handled that fight, because every time i read opinions about cortez no one has said that hatton would of won the fight if cortez was competent

no. He warned them both in the dressing room he would take a point and he warned them during the fight he would take a point. Yes Mayweather was half falling through the ropes BUT Hatton then shoved him through and went to hit him on the back of the head - blatant foul, 1 point. Would you complain if the punch had landed? I think you would

Your arm is over the other guys shoulder he called break, you're in a head lock - break!

As Mayweather turned his back when Hatton was throwing, He didn't shove mayweather through.
