Ice you also got to realize that alot of those loses were later in his career and he was a very dominate Lightweight one of the best in most cases.

Like I've told you before if you look at his career on a piece of paper you may not have him ranked so high. Oops sorry you have watched some footage 30 years after the end of his prime my mistake.

ICE look at just about every boxing expert or respected poll in the world (people that know a helluva lot more than you) and see where Duran is ranked

    Sit tight....
You can wait all you want truth is I had a chat with someone here and realized I don't need to reply.
You've pretty muched did it all on your own. I don't even need to reply.
You actually listed his opponents and who he beat and lost to.
It's good you question things you'll learn a lot this way.
But something like that I just wont bother to much with it. If you feel Duran is rated to high then by all means. Your entitled to feel that way.
Also the thought of someone listing the Paz loses as a point to prove something against Duran would be like me listing the Spinks & Berbick loses to debate against Ali.
You should also include that Duran lost to Pat Lawlor (who the fuck is he), Camacho, 'Locomotora', Joppy and Gonzalez.
Now that would really help you out there with your debate.

You have to look at what Duran accomplished overall. He was great when he started (Lightweight). Fell off for awhile (after the 2nd Leonard fight). And than came back when everybody counted him out (Barkley fight). Those different circumstances add to his greatness. You seem to be looking at Duran career through wins and losses. If that's the case than keep in mind that 2 of the fighters who are always ranked ahead of Duran (Ray Robinson and Henry Armstrong) have more career losses than Duran

Because I have watched all the top fighters in history and in my opinion he is one of the absolute best I have ever seen

Thats the reason i am asking i don't care what experts say or etc, because i can't ask them im only interested in knowledgeable posters here.

Maybe i shouldn't of mentioned Paz thats my mistake, but i just want to get an insight on why people feel he is rated that high. I love watching Duran fight and he was apart of the best era ever in boxing history but i have never quite understood why he was rated top 5.

Good point VD and your spot on, maybe i was looking at it the wrong way. But thats why i have brought up this question to learn from knowledgeable posters. Beating Barkley was amazing achievement, he was 37 wasn't he ?? and he stood toe to toe with Barkley and took all those vicious body shots and still had more energy than Barkley at the end of the fight that was amazing, Barkley towered over Duran that was quite a performance from Duran.
