He has potential to be a great champion, but hes always having these bad setbacks. I hope he gets a big named fight this year and gets a title shot near the end. I think any fight to be made with the big names at 168 and miranda will be interesting.

Would have Kelly beaten Miranda that night regardless? Most of you think so, and that is a fair call. I dont know, but would love to find out by a rematch.
No doubt the weight problem/fever was a HUGE advantag for Kelly.

Sorry but i don't like petty excuses i thought you was better than that Pantera. Now Miranda had a fever ?? come off it he looked fine to me its just Pavlik was too strong and Miranda didn't know what to do fighting on the back foot, because he had never been in that situation before. If Miranda would of won you wouldn't be saying *Miranda had fever, weight problems* You just have to accept Miranda was beaten fair and square no excuses. One of my favorite fighters lost awhile ago aka Marco Antonio Barrera. And i didn't make any excuses and i gave Pacquiao his props and i moved on. Miranda does not deserve a rematch after getting beaten that badly, and plus do you really think Miranda would want a rematch ??

Plus i didn't hear you making all these excuses before the fight. When you was 100 percent convinced Miranda would destroy Pavlik.
I was in Memphis the days before the fight and wasnt making any posts. What I say our facts. Miranda had a fever all day before the fight. He hardly even ate after the weigh in (usually he had a pretty healthy appetite).

Listen, you dont have to believe me, and even if you do, you may not think it had an affect on him.
I realize this is boxing and there are no excuses, you get your a** beat, well, it is what it is.

But down the road if Edison proves himseld at 168lbs and grabs a belt on the way, you bet your a** there will be a rematch and I have a strong feeling the results will be much different.

So think what you want. I can see your side. But I was there and saw what I saw, and I am not gonna 'lie' and tell you he was in good shape. I have been with Edison before many of his fights, and there is no doubt he was not himself the day and hours before the fight. S***, just look as his walk to the ring and compare it to any other of his fights. He looked like he was walking to a funeral and had no excitement in him. Every other walk out he is taunting the crowd and has his hands raised high.....

I must of had 10 phone calls on my cell before the first bell rang with friends of mine watching the fight on TV asking what was wrong with him.....
Maybe Miranda just knew he was going to get his a** kicked. The fact that Miranda has never really even pushed for a rematch pretty much says it all. Miranda got knocked the F*** out fair and square.
As eliquant as ever VD , but spot on

I've been meaning to comment on this thread but just tonight about 3 hrs. ago I was watching a handful of Miranda fights and he's got loads of heart and some tools there in his skills. I'm not sure tho if at this stage in his career a trainer can teach him and make him adjust his wide punches and make them sharper and more straight.

I can def. see him giving any of the top Super Middles a damn! good fight and if push comes to shove I can def. see him beating 1 or 2 of the top names on a good nights performance.

I think if the Pascal fight comes off it will be something like the Green fight where it's about 2 or 3 rounds apart and some of the rounds are pretty even. If I had to choose I would favor Miranda by decision. Never been a fan on Pascal kids got some skills but I mean his best opponents Ikeke. Other then that theres nothing there on his resume. People also have to keep in mind Pascals injury prone hes already injured both of his hands a shoulder and an elbow someone like Miranda whos gonna make him bring it will make him shoot both hands off thus making it a higher risk for him to re-injure his hands.

I did not know bout all those injuries he's had. That could make a small differnce. We'll see how they both look next week. I like both fighters a lot. Miranda is the new Mayorga, but not as funny, and probably a little better boxer. And Pascal is the best Roy Jones Jr. imitator I've ever seen. Not even close to the original, but the Jones style seems to work for him. Which is amazing.

Hopefully they will both look great next week. It will be a good start to what could be built up as a huge fight. No doubt it will end up being for at least an elimintation bout. Maybe even a vacant title if Joe vacates.

Its a huge step up for Pascal either way.

That's what they said about Pavlik before he fought Edison

I think Super Middle will suit Mirnda and he'll certainly pick up an alphabet strap.

It wont be as easy as you think mate. You seen how many good fighters there are at 168?

Absolutley, a really exciting division at the moment. But I feel Miranda certainly has the power (and if he uses it the skills) to clench a strap for himself.

Will he be the unified champ? I certainly doubt it, but I do suspect he'll pick up one of the big four after Calzaghe vacates.

Well I hope he doesnt make habits of fighting people like David Banks. He needs to push himself and really get involved at the top. He will do well there and I hope he can get a title.

I think Banks is a good fight for him as it is his debut on live TV at 168lbs. Banks has never been stopped, so if Edison can KO him early, it will show the world Edison has his power at Super Middle.

After this he will have a big fight. At the very least it will be Jean Pascal, but there have been talks of a a few other big names. Either way he will be putting himself in position for a title fight before the end of this year.

Miranda's opposition for me won't determine whether or not he wins a world title.
What will decide it it the approach Miranda takes and how much of his potential he uses.
