Piece shit!!
My internet was down all this time. It just went back up now...
Anyway.
Heres my take on the fights.
Vanes has got a lot of work to do, PSL your P4P comment looks far and beyond. The kids got talent and all but still has soooo much road to cover.
Hernandez was there for the taking Vanes at times got a bit sloppy as he has in the past so he needs to pick it up a bit.
I gotta say Wally Matthews should be fucken fired. Let me explain.
I've got no problems with his comment about Anthony not being aggressive enough. I get it Wally and yes you make a lot of sense.
BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UT
At one point during the fight Wally actually complained about Anthonys jab. What? WTF? How can you say "Hes using the jab too much"?
I mean really? The kids popping the jab all night.
I like that Anthony boxed tight and well but again I agree in that part with Wally that he needed to be more agressive in there and needed to try and go for the finish. All in all it was a good showing for Anthony who I still see as prospect but he needs to pick it up now.
All in all to me boxing is boxing and I enjoyed the fights. Nice clean punching both kids got tech skills and they just need to be polished some more.
OK just watched Anthony Peterson's first.
First let me say that was the worst commentating job I have ever heard. It was an absolute joke what that guy carried on about the entire fight about how Peterson didn't have any fire in him. I can see a comment maybe in the last round where it fell into an extreme rhythm but he started that crap in the 4th round! I don't know who that was but they commentated like a little child, chastising that he wasn't exciting enough even though he threw 80 punches a round and throwing them in combinations. Biggest complainer I have ever heard I was thoroughly pissed off going through 12 rounds of such awful commentary.
That being said, it wasn't the most stirring performance but Peterson is so above his competition right now that he just doesn't want to make a dumb mistake. He's still making the fight though. His performance reminded very much of an Andre Ward performance. Neither guy tries to make their statement on lesser competition, they are both very smart to not get themselves in trouble too often like Khan and so many other prospects do.
That being said I did see some kinks. The most noticeable being that he is open to the body. You would think that as he steps up, the first thing a very good lightweight is going to test is going to be the body. If you can take a little bit of steam out of him and take the legs away from a rhythm fighter then you have a lot better shot at winning. He picks almost everything off upstairs with that beautiful guard and that ability he has to lean with the punches. I think he has tremendous upper body control and as him and his brother progress they both remind me of Winky Wright in their own ways which is part of the reason I like them so much. That jab just looked great I wish he would have stuck behind that more because it was so good to watch. Excellent jab, could be one of the best in boxing. And here I thought Lamont had the superior jab. Maybe but Anthony has a really good one.
However, I think you can get him to react easy too. He threw a lot of left hooks off just feints and missed badly a few times like he was shadow boxing. It's a short hook so it looks even worse. Someone like Casamayor or any other of the top guys are definitely going to try to counterpunch and try to feint him as much as possible to try to draw a reaction.
Still, I thought it was a good performance. I would like to see him face Kid Diamond now as has been reported. That's a good test I think he passes easy.
I missed it, glad Peterson won. Trejo wasn't a bad test on paper.
