Pavlik/ Hopkins is an intriguing mtch up. The current middleweight champ against one of best former middleweight champs.
Youth against experience.
Also it seem to set up the winner for a bout with the winner of Calzaghe/ Jones perfectly!
All I want to know is WTF is Wright doing? He should have done everything possible to get the fight with Pavlik!
The Best There Is, The Best There Was, The Best There Ever Will Be
I would still like to see Pavlik Wright,Calzaghe and Abraham some time with in the next two year window.

Here's Pavlik's response regarding this fight, that he gave to his local newspaper.
Pavlik may say aloha to Hopkins - Vindy.com News - Sports - Youngstown, Warren, Columbiana, Ohio
If Calzaghe wasnt craft enough to beat Hopkins by a big margin, i dont see how Pavlik can beat him at all
Thats cricket
Well I personally dont like it, but hopefully Pavlik retires Hopkins for good this time
Looks like this may be a goer (according to multiple sources)
Pavlik moving up to fight Hopkins - Boxing - Yahoo! Sports
After the wait, it's a very credible opponent for Kelly. I see him taking control of the fight in the middle rounds, maybe forcing a stoppage late on. Hopkins looked tired last time out, and JC wasn't even pushing him THAT hard so after a few awkward rounds it's Pavlik's fight for me.
Little worried about how Hopkins is backpedalling, he's cruised past the 41 deadline, and now he's coming off the seniors tour to fight a young stronger guy, something he said he wouldn't in the run up to the JC fight. Maybe a convincing loss will persuade him to do the right thing and retire with a great career behind him.
Very credible!!
You know i thought Joe would walk in there and just be too much but Hopkins ia a machine. He will stop Kelly working, Pavlik will be running at 30% and thats how Hopkins wins.
If i was Pavlik fan i would be thinking this:
Kelly went life and death with Taylor twice, his power did not look great at 166lbs, Hopkins has been reborn at 175 and Hopkins has the same reach and is only 1" shorter.
Lets see Kelly fight a guy that is a natural SMW/LHW see how he handles his shots bouncing off.
I'm not sure they will just bounce off! Pavlik hits freakishly hard at middle and I personally think he is draining himself to make that weight as he seems to look huge for a middle. If 170 is the weight that the fight will happen at, well I personally think that this is somewhere near his natural fighting weight and his punches would be at their most explosive there. That said Hopkins has never really looked in that much trouble in regards to being knocked out and if anyone could take Kellys best shots it could well be Bernard!
Yep Joe is a good SMW but Roy was extremely weight drained for all 3 of the defeats and has become a lot more aclimatised to the division again now and although he is nowhere near the man he was I think he will be too much for Joe. Roy IMO would beat Tarver now with ease.
The only way i see pavlik losing is if he can't land his punches. If his punches start to land it's lights out for hopkins. Even calzaghe seemed to have difficulty landing punches. So that says a lot.
