Shane has looked no worse in recent fights than J M Marquez imo. Marquez lost to Floyd in an even more one sided way than Shane did, he also went life and death in fights with Casamayor, Diaz and most recently Katsidis.

Sure Mosely got a draw last time out against Mora, but Mora is an awkward opponent to look good against and virtually everyone though Mosley deserved the win, the HBO team had him well ahead and claimed the result was a travesty.

The cries that he is done and finised are a bit OTT. Marquez is routinely getting dropped in fights nowadays and having to really go to war to win.

I've seen nothing in their last 4 or 5 performances to suggest that Marquez is performing any better than Shane right now.

He struggled far more with Katsidis than Juan Diaz did, and he struggled more with Juan Diaz than Paulie Maliggnagi did.

Mosley has at least KO'd two huge strong fighters in Mayorga and Margarito. Sorry but Marquez ain't doing that to either of those guys,
To be fair Collazo broke his hand in the 2nd round of his fight with Mosley. They had both taken a round each up until that point.

Ok Mosley beat up a guy that only had one functioning hand. Does that make you feel better? Cuz I'm telling you now it does fuck all for selling the fight to me.

This puts any Mayweather fight in November now. Is this really a fight that boxing fans even want to see? I mean I have nothing against Mosley, but Mayweather dismantled him. A win over Mosely adds nothing to Manny's CV and he is now making a real habit of fighting good fighters AFTER Mayweather has beaten them.

I understand that he is a little low on options. Khan and Bradley will likely face each other around the same time so I would rather see him face Berto if I'm honest.

Most posters on here as well as writers on other news sites are pissed at this fight being made. But realistially, aside from JMM - name another fighter out there that can generate this kinda money for Pac? And can anyone on here honestly say that they beileve JMM has a better chance than Mosely against Pac at 147?

I honestly beileve this fight is just about staying busy and earning the $$$ until the fight we all want can be made. It's not like Pac is the kind of fighter to duck anyone or avoid a risky fight, he's allowed a gimme or two at this stage of his career. If picking and choosing easier fights now improvess the chances of a PBF fight at a later date then so be it!

Although he could in the past I just don't think Mosley has enough in the tank and wont be able to handle the output of Pacquiao. He's not gonna one punch KO Pac and he's not gonna wear him down so I give him little to no chance at all. I know styles are always different but Cotto handled Mosley a few years ago with better counter punching and speed, and Pac is better at both. Mosley and team just looking for one more big paycheck and time in the spotlight.

I am disappointed in this match-up but your post makes sense. Between JMM and Mosley, Shane will generate the most money.

To those who are likewise disappointed in this fight being made, just think of it as a tune-up fight (although I believe Mosley has a chance no matter how slim it is). If Manny wins this, he has to fight again so this is the time for JMM and Berto to show that either of them deserves the next fight. JMM can do this going up in weigh and challenging someone notable in the 140 lb division, like the winner between Alexander vs Bradley. Berto can do this by fighting a well-known like Margarito or Cotto to obtain some recognition. Maybe, JMM can fight Berto at welterweight and we'll see how good he is at that division. His first try wasn't impressive but, then again, that was against Mayweather. One of them gets eliminated from contention and there won't be an excuse for Manny not to fight the winner of that bout.

Its just the standard is so high right now.

If Berto went on to beat Mosley. It would be the biggest win of his career.

Yeah Mosley looks shit but who is there to fight ? JMM is campaigning at 135.

we can consider this as stay busy fight with some money. and we know Pac will have at least two fights in 2011 so the other guys must impress to get that slot. I dont think Pac will go on vacation after this fight.

Well we called it a few weeks back after reading that Roach felt Shane should retire. Anyone trying to sell this fight as competitive is only fooling themselves so they can possibly justify spending 50 bucks on this crappy fight. I mean if Duran came out of retirement to face Pacman some idiots on here, (i say idiots because only idiots think mosley has a chance) would be selling the fact that Duran beat SSR as means to give him a chance.

Mosley is done. He will come in over trained. Once Manny takes his shot, Manny will start that bouncing in and out routine then Mosley will be stopped inside of 8. If Pbf would have picked up the pace he could have stopped shane not from punishment but from him being too tired to do anything. Manny will throw too many punches at Shane causing him to be stopped by Nazim on the stool or by the ref. This fight is a YAWN fest. Anyone selling this probably would sell PACMAN vs RJJ at 154 because that's where RJJ started his career.

He just fought Margarito....this is a step up..stfu already. Its a very legit fight, besides Shane needs some cash since he just got divorced. This is just as legit as if he fought Cotto, or Bradley/Alexander. Lets face facts he's is gonna be as fast as them and stronger. He's not gonna be stronger than Shane.

I still think its better then a Berto fight for him. Mannys talking about retirement afterall. Berto really in big picture has done nothing to cement notoriety or fan fare and is still a somewhat unproven commodity, full of potential yes but yet to be realized. Has some glaring flaws and has faced nothing even close to the breed of Manny. Aside from a trinket Pac gains nothing from beating him and stands to lose all. He'd be going from the shallows to the abyss in depth of experience...he had his mega fight and pulled out with the very same Mosley although 2,3 fts ago. He's young, undefeated, heavily groomed and has some so so defenses. Thats it. Wouldn't want to see Pac Davey Moore him.

Mosley's old as dirt but yet again Manny looks to equal if not one up a Mayweather victory. Name relevance. I think Mosley has the proverbial punchers chance but more then likely will end up resembling William Joppy after Bernard Hopkins got finished with him. Lumpy, swollen and distorted.
