My problem with that source is that I literally know nothing about them and, from what I briefly read, they seem challenged in the credibility department.
While preaching energy austerity for everyone else in order, he claims, to save the planet from man-made climate change, Gore personally lives a luxurious, jet-setting, carbon dioxide-consuming lifestyle, including multi-million-dollar homes and never-ending, first-class, globe-trotting.

While constantly denouncing the evils of the fossil fuel industry, Gore recently sold his Current TV for $500 million (including a reported personal profit of $70 million) to Al Jazeera, the international news service funded by the oil-and- natural-gas-rich Arab emirate of Qatar.

    So those are inaccurate claims

Iaminuit people can say Anthropogenic Global Warming exists all they want to BUT I'm not going to pay any mind to it because #1 People have said for too long "We're doomed already" yet here we are #2 The people preaching that doom haven't cut back at all in their lifestyles (see Al Gore) #3 Who is to say if we stop emitting carbon altogether (with the exception of exhaling) that this can be reversed and #4 Who are we to say what the climate of the Earth should be? If it changed on it's own would we try to stop it?

That is perhaps the most cynical attitude to have and the attitude of one who wants his cake and will eat it and be damned if anyone wants to live after the dump has been laid.

If man has caused it or not, man has a responsibility to be as good to this planet as he can because it is all that he has. Why take the risk? Good science has shown the evidence. Bought science is largely the type bought into by the likes of Captain Blowhard and paid for by the oil corporations.

Everyone drives a car, everyone uses an air conditioner. Al Gore is but a tiny part of the equation. There are many ways to deal with the problem, but our current economic models are designed to grow or else and so consuming until nothing remains is the only path they can see. They are all competing to grow and it is a pointless quest when they will eventually have to stop growing.

There are solutions to global warming and that would mean not only the rich pay, but also ordinary people. I think most would be willing to change if it was held to all. That would mean that at the very least, we tried. Surely it is better to try than to say 'To hell with it, I like consumption and it will be me until I die'. Obviously species survival will not happen with such attitudes.

Did I say "destroy the Earth"? NO! I love nature, but I'm tired of people preach at me when they are more guilty of the sins they are railing against! I don't fly in private jets, I don't have an outrageously huge mansion, I don't have a yacht, I don't have 50 cars in my driveway, I don't jet set around the world for vacations or speeches all the time.

There's a fine line between being a Tree hugging fish feel pain zealot and being a reasonable and rational person

Most people don't have those things, Lyle. They are struggling with what they have. Most given the choice would prefer that their children had a future too and would give up a few things and the super rich should pay a lot more. It is just common sense. It is obvious and yet you yourself would rather accept that it is over and just destroy the planet. That is really selfish. Al Gore is just a figure to bash at.

OK #1 the people preaching about Global Warming DO have those things and they want people to pay for indulgences

#2 Sure people will sacrifice for their kids it's called "being a parent"

#3 The super rich should pay more for what? What the fuck does income redistribution have to do with the climate miles? If the super rich gave up a lot of their money to the super poor then the super poor would all buy cars and spend more money "hurting the environment" so using common sense it's probably better for the environment that a select elite few can own gas guzzling cars and fly in private jets....I just don't want them telling me that I have to be the one to cut back when they are doing things in excess...Charles Bukowski wouldn't tell a teetotaler to cut back on their booze consumption!

#4 Destroy the planet? We couldn't "Destroy the planet" if we TRIED....this Earth has been through far worse than anything the humans could ever do to it and it will be here long after our species had died off so I really don't know what you're fucking talking about.

    1. If you are suggesting that most have a car etc, then sure they do.
    2. Again it is natural for parents to want to help their offspring, but personally I am not sure how true that is. I have no kids, but I would love to help more just as long as others were doing so too.
    3. Corporations and wealthy people obviously produce a larger carbon footprint and should thus lead the way. This is planet survival, not just give the 'black man a bowl of fried chicken'. They should pay tax progressively and be forced to reign in their demands to fit a changing world. It is complex and needs thought.
    4. Of course we can destroy the planet and you doubt it now living in semi ignorance. Give it 50 years and with little done lets have this same conversation. I don't want to be right, but unless things change, I will and I say that I was right to choose different life paths than most. It will give me no real satisfaction. 50 years will just be the start of the hell that follows.

Lyle you are going to have to explain something for me if you dont mind.

The higher level living reefs of the world are being bleached dry of life.

Skin cancer in these effected areas has gone mad its killing us off at about 4 times the rate it was as little as 20 years ago, it was close to unheard of prior to 35 years back here.

Most studies state ozone depletion that lets through harmful rays to us and the reefs and the ice.

These are a few of the things that haven't occurred on Earth before, ever, as in never as yet: Those reefs are millions of years old and they are now dead. Thats a long period of evolution until death.
They dont come back they cant grow back in this climate. Same as our deaths from skin cancer that permeates deeper to kill us off.

So with your beliefs and saying everyone but you is crazy
    and without the "Oh nature does these things";

Why do you think these things are occurring from your point of view?
    Hidden Content " border="0" />

    I can explain it.
But I cant understand it for you.

I have no idea if those claims are true or if they are properly contextualized. What I am saying is that I am extremely hesitant to accept the word of a Canadian "news source" that I have literally never heard mentioned before and one that has a seemingly suspect reputation. Furthermore, I believe, once again, that I have already rebutted the previous points.
