Horrible fight... horrible performance by both fighters. This is as much on Shakur as it is on De Los Santos. The booing was well deserved. The commentating was atrocious. Sure... in the end Shakur landed more than De Los Santos. But he wanted no part of De Los Santos. You can't win fans that way. It was a shitty fight... and I'm sure Shakur will get a wide UD win... but it means little. I think he lost stature in the eyes of the fans.

What a contrast between the main event and the co-main tonight!

On the one hand, you had Navarrete and Conceicao giving it their all in a hugely entertaining fight. Robson was fighting strictly on fumes at the end and looked out of it a couple of times. But he fought on like a warrior. Navarrete of course always entertains.

Then the main event stunk out the joint. I think they said neither fighter landed in double digits in any round. The boos were cascading down on them. It's ok to be cautious for 2 or 3 rounds... but damn... that was tough to watch. Shakur may have remained undefeated... but IMO he went down a few notches. I know the name of the game is hit and don't get hit. But Shakur wasn't doing much hitting either.

What a difference between the two fights!

Judge: “I hear-by sentence you to watch a Shakur Stevenson fight”

I skipped a workout to watch that shit. Stevenson will never interrupt my groove again!

He's being compared to Floyd but Shakur has to be remember one thing

Floyd was a killer in his 20's

In order to get to that top echelon of fighters in history you have to be ok with being in that line of fire and take risks with a power puncher, to get the victory. Floyd did it with Maidana, Andre did it with Kovalev, Bud did it with Mean Machine, Ali did it with Foreman, Hagler did it with Hearns, etc etc

I also need to get something else off my chest here.

There is a difference between a titleholder and a world champ

The champ who beats the previous champ is the legit linear or lineal champion. A title holder is someone who wins a strap and has a paper belt. Shakur Stevenson fought for the vacant WBC lightweight belt making him a titleholder not a world champ.

One thing I do respect Felix Trinidad for is that he was a 3 weight world champ who never fought for a vacant world title, always went for a reigning champ (Maurice Blocker, David Reid and William Joppy) All these other 2, 3, 4 and 5 weight world champs be it Floyd, Pac Man, ODLH fought for the vacant world title.

Not being a world champion does not mean you are not a good fighter. But you should be able trace your belt back more than a few fights before it was vacated.

I still got love for you Shakur, but

“I had a bad performance tonight; that’s all I’m focused on,” he said after the bout.

“I wasn’t feeling too good. I’ll live it, it’s OK, I came here to get the victory and that’s all I wanted to do.

“I ain’t got nothing to say about that — I’m not going to make excuses,” he said. “I just didn’t feel good before the fight.”

The Dominican Republic-born boxer's win has since received criticism from fellow lightweight Garcia.

“Imagine going to this fight for Formula 1 weekend, I would ask for my money back and go straight to bed, that’s how sleepy I’d be from being there,” the American said on social media.

He was not the only boxer to voice his opinion on the bout. Unified lightweight champion Devin Haney, who failed in his attempts to secure a fight with Stevenson, was even harsher.

“Should’ve offered this bum 10 percent, I was being too generous!” he said. “Stop that scared narrative — nobody was ever scared of that bum! He wanted clout! That’s all they use my name for.”

Lightweight star Gervonta Davis then took the opportunity to fire back at Haney's comments on X, formerly Twitter.

He wrote: "That's what I am offering you, son, son."

Despite the underwhelming performance, the win for Stevenson secured his third world title at different weight classes.

    Conceicao showed so much heart
    I had Navarrete winning 114-112
    Stevenson is one boring fighter
