i'm pretty sure de la hoya isn't going to fight mayweather or winky at the moment. Other than a vargas or tito fight it would be interesting just to get them in the ring. De la hoya will break Mayora down in the later rounds but you never know how the fight will pan out. There is always a slim chance, that's why they fight the fights!

I'm not real excited about it either but I wouldn't criticize De La Hoya for fighting Mayorga. Both fighters seem to be taking the fight seriously, and a win for either man will make a big difference in how their careers look. If Oscar loses he will be regarded as a lesser fighter than Trinidad and probably will be through as a top pay per view draw, and Mayorga will gain a ton of respect as a man who can learn a tough lesson from an earlier loss (to Trinidad). If De La Hoya wins it will mean that he's still got it and can go on to fight another top junior middleweight or middleweight before calling it quits. If Mayorga loses he will be viewed as a man who was seriously flawed as a fighter but who could beat a top guy with the right style for him (Forrest).

This is a waste of a fight. I absolutely will not pay for this fight. Why should we cough up $50 bucks to see Delahoya jab and move all night to an easy 12 rd unanimous decision? Oscar's only taking this fight to look good for his next one, and it's disgusting. He says he's only fighting two more times, why not fight Vargas or Trinidad, and then PBF? Why is he wasting our time w/ this cigarette smoking clown?

I agree...Mayorga's a clown...but this could be a good fight...Oscar has slipped just a bit & Mayorga for once seems determined to keep his title.

But Mayorga is dangrous, and Oscar saying he will come for a fight, I feel will not be the truth, Oscar will wear him down, through the round and when he has taught him a boxing lesson, thats when Oscar will fight around 8-9, I cant see Mayorga living with him.

Mayorga absolutely hates him and I believe it. I don't think it is set up at all. Oscar is good looking, has tpns of accomplishments, a beautiful wife, and loads of money. This is everything that Mayorga thinks he deserves and has dreamed of since he was a child, I believe.

If Oscar doesn't have the heart and a conditioned Mayorga shows up, then Oscar will be stopped. Oscar can't fight going backwards and doesn't have the power to stop Mayorga. This fight will be similar to the Forrest fights, either one could play out, but if I had to bet, it would be on Mayorga.

That is how he feels about Oscar. And to the jackass of this thread, Mayorga is a much more deserving and dangerous foe than Vargas at this stage of the game.

I love Oscar fans, "make a name of Oscar..." The way Oscar made a name off an old Chavez, Paez, Camacho? Huh? But now is too cowardly to step up against Maywhether down the line, PLEASE. Mayorga made his name off bein a badass and KO'n Forrest. He just wants to whip Oscar's ass for fun. And he will. Oh and a Vargas vs Mayorga fight would be a slaughter at this point, Mayorga would steamroll over him.

Yeah, it sounds to me like it's staged drama too. I think these guys are smart enough to realise that they need some pre-fight fireworks for an otherwise unappealing fight.
