    Juan Manuel Lopez - http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=291928

None of the other 15 or so boxers on this list of mine will make more of an immediate impact then Juan Manuel Lopez. He may not be the next great fighter from Puerto Rico but he sure as hell is a contender. He's a southpaw with a very sharp and powerful straight left hand and like all the great Puerto Ricans, a ripping body attack. He beat up on his biggest test thus far when he destroyed Vargas on Shobox. Absolutely outclassed him and hurt Vargas just about every round with the right hook, straight left combination and could have stopped it a few times but took his foot off the gas pedal to get rounds in. I think Lopez gets a title shot and wins sometime soon, maybe before the year is over.
Spot on this guy does not look green at all and he surely looks like a contender already. i've been watching and following him and his life in and out the ring and he is a all around good and decent guy. he will be a future champion and maybe someone we will be talking about all the time!

CC Mike. Completely agreed the guy is awesome. He's been fighting on some lowkey cards as of late but it won't be long before he EXPLODES imo.

    And JT, about Julio.

He's not bad. The constant jab and slickness of Quintana got to him in their fight, it disrupted his timing and after a while he just threw one punch at a time and loaded up on everything.

He's still a good fighter with a powerful right hand, a good short puncher. I wish he had more of a jab. When he leads with the right he really reaches with it, and he tends to drop his hands afterwards. He's always had good balance, he's always had a fairly good defense and good instincts. I just think Quintana was a nightmare style matchup for him. A patient puncher who relies on timing facing a guy who was constantly putting a jab in his face.

He'll be fine. He's only 24 now I do believe. He has about a good of a corner as a young boxer can have.

The big thing is that he doesn't throw from the outside and sometimes he waits for the guy to throw to slip and try to find an opening to get inside. And that got him pretty far but Quintana was the first guy to double and triple up on the jab and Julio found himself staying on the outside.

And when he does throw from the outside to try to get in, it's with the right hand and while his right is good, it's what put down Davis down in their bout, it's not a punch I like him leading with especially from distance because it opens him up for counters and doesn't allow him opportunity to follow up.

But yeah, he's a good fighter with a lot of power and determination. I was big on him when he broke that guy's jaw. I would love to see him fight Kermit down the road.

Not so sure about Julio yet, but he's not a bad fighter.

Diaconu looked pretty good, I agree on Juan Manuel, he looks almost like a can't miss type prospect, although I can't say I've seen him fight a whole lot of rounds.

What about that guy from Derry Ireland. Whats his name.....O yeah .. Irish John Duddy. He looks to be a great up and comer and possible a solid contender in the future.

Andy Lee, he spars with Jermain Taylor and Kermit Cintron on a regular basis.
He has the right trainer, Emanuel Steward.
I heard he schooled or beat up Taylor in sparing all the time.
He was also the only sparring partner to hang with Cintron.
What's with his name, he's not chinese?

I could have chose Amir Kahn too. Probably should have chose him.
The last fight I saw, he was brilliant.

I wouldn't choose Andre Berto. He's just waiting to be beaten badly... Every
fighter is, but with Andre it seems like he's in love with is explosive power already.
He's learning, but I think Amir and Andy will learn faster than him in the long run.

Chavez Junior has the pedigree and the promoter in Bob Arum. He has the sparring,
direction, team, father, maybe even genetic advantage ... but I think boxing is more than all of those combined.
In the end, it always comes to personal mental toughness. You can't teach that or buy that.
It's a personal decision. His father had it, but chances are "Junior" doesn't have it.

There is a very good thread on prospects going right now. Here is my take on a few of the prospects in boxing right now. Prospect spotlighting is probably one of my favorite things to do so I stay on the lookout.

    http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxing_fo...html#msg581294

Of the guys I didn't mention in that topic, I think the most promising is Lamont Peterson. Absolutely beautiful what he does in the ring, I think he is going to be pound for pound and soon. His brother is very good too, but Lamont is just jaw dropping.
