No, it's not Valuev's fault that the quality of his opposition has been "less than stellar."
And yes, Valuev deserves credit for working hard at getting better inside the ring.

But for MY money....... I'd rather not watch a guy who outweighs everyone he fights by 100 pounds and stands almost a foot taller. Just like I think it'd be unfair to throw Arturo Gatti in against Bernard Hopkins (nobody get a stroke..... I'm not comparing Valuev to Hopkins, people).

So I'll say it again. It's fighters like Valuev that confirm my opinion that the heavyweight division shouldn't be open-ended.

As usual Tito has something wise to say!
    I do not disagree!
    I think the divisions need a re-alignment
    As an example
    mid 160
    super mid 168
    Lt hvy 175??
it goes up 8 pounds and then only up 7??
    dumb!
for sure we need cruiser and super cruiser then hw and super heavy
    maybe at 100kg? 220.5 lbs?
not right for a guy above cruiser 190 to go against a guy 250+
    just not right!

Wladimir has fought good fighters, he's challenged himself......Vitali has fought good fighters, he's challenged himself.

And neither is full of himself enough to compare himself to an all-time great much less make a statement like "I want to shatter this legend's record"

Valuev is a waste of space! Why worship a fighter who doesn't fight the best out there?

Now it is no secret that I am a fan of the Klitschko's BUT I am not delusional enough to say they are all-time greats yet.....and they are more accomplished fighters than Valuev and that's just the F****** truth
Well there is some truth to what you say

"Wladimir has fought good fighters, he's challenged himself......"

    true, fighters like Sanders,Brewster,Puritty

    BUT!
HE GOT KO'D THE F#CK OUT!!

"Vitali has fought good fighters, he's challenged himself."

Well looking at his record, there's really only one.. Lewis..
    and oh ya...
    BUT
He was beaten to a bloody pulp!!!
(please don't make me post those horrifying pics... AGAIN!)

    then there's Valuev
5 times defending the WBA INTER CONTINENTAL BELT
    and now
4 times defending the WBA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP BELT

    STILL undefeated!

HE wants to shatter the record, with wins over ALL the best fighters in the world! all the belt holders!

    Valuev has OPENLY challenged Wlad!
    has Wlad OR Vitali replied?
    ANSWER ME!!! HAVE THEY?

    case closed....

P.S. Quit using my trademark BUT lol!

    I thought all those W's meant a win....let's see....uh...46 of em..
Well if the WBA needs casual fans to RE score fights after a decision has been given, I'll be sure to tell 'em to give you a call.

Say what you want, Marciano would have beaten Chaguev, and Ruiz, something that Valuev couldnt do.

As for the record comparison, that is ridiculous. Trying to give credit to a fighter Valuev beat, because he also lost to a different named fighter. You've got to be kidding me. Noone that Valuev has beat, or will ever beat will come close to Charles, Walcott, or Louis, regardless if they were in their prime or not.

And IMO, although it might take a few rounds, simply because of height and reach disadvantage, it would only take 1 from Marciano to flatten the freak. Man, Cmon Vlad, I cant wait to see the sasquatch get leveled.
