Hopefully, you meant that you talked to Green on Myspace a month ago because if you talked to him today on Myspace, then it's obvious that Green isn't in focus mode. This guy shouldn't be on Myspace four days before the biggest fight of his life. Dude is definitely getting KTFO now. Pantera Miranda KO 1.

You're saying that like it's completely out of the question. Miranda has been hurt and he's been hurt by a guy with a lot less power then that of Green. It's not like Miranda is a proven fighter. I agree that Miranda wins by midround KO but still it's not out of the question that Green wins.

Oh yeah, I definitely believe that Green has a shot, I'm halfway kidding when I talk. But I really do think that Edison is underrated as a boxer. The guy has fought pretty good boxers and held his own, Abraham is an EXCELLENT boxer and Miranda was close to pulling off the upset. People act like Miranda sucks as a boxer, and while he might not be polished, Edison really does use his jab well and his footwork is good. Green's getting knocked out.

Boxer is an overused term imo. A guy can jab and circle all day and be called a "boxer." There are way to many one dimensional fighters out there being praised as "pure boxers." Very diluted term now imo. When people say so and so will outbox whoever, well...what does that even mean? It seems if you have a decent jab and some foot movement you're a boxer. Even with a bad defense, chin, power ect...

Miranda gets by by not being a "pure boxer", he has a pretty tight defense on the outside and gets inside really well. Similar to Lacy really. He has lapses in transition and he can be countered but he still imposes his fight on his opponent win or lose. So I wouldn't call him a bad boxer... I think you're spot on in that last post CC 136.

CC, what I've been trying to say for a while now. Actually made a thread before about how the term "one dimensional" only applies to guy's who come forward, a "boxer" never gets called one dimensional even if he only has one dimension.

I gotta say this...the DRBR is in full effect on this match up.

Everyone's got good points & I think that it speaks leaps & bounds for the future of Miranda that most of the arguments are cracking over his up & coming match against Green.

For the record...I hope that he thrashes him.

Okay Pantera...here's what has me worried...Miranda as a fighter is ultra confident...& that's all well & good...but we have discussed the fact that he has very little to no defense...scratch that...let's just say that it's very leaky.

It was visible against Eastman & Abraham. They both caught him & hurt him. Abraham had Miranda stunned several times.

Since then...Miranda has been more of a hammer & hit 'em man...& that's worked...but Green can box...& Miranda has issues with boxers finding leaky holes.

The thing is...what if he catches him like Eastman & Abraham did?

Does Green really posess the power to stop him? If so...& he does...this would be considered an upset of upsets & a huge boost for Green...correct?

Green's got power. No doubt he could catch Miranda. It's boxing and anything can happen.
And if Green pulled off the upset it would be HUGE for him. He would immediately be put in the top of the list to fight Taylor (maybe having to fight Pavlik first).

But realistically, Green defense is not good. Compared to Abraham it is nonexistent. And his chin, well, we need not go there. He will get hit and it will hurt him. Unless Green gets lucky and catches Miranda early I dont see anyway for Green to win this one. And if Green does catch Miranda, will he be able to hurt him enough to slow him down? Abraham couldnt do it, Eastman couldnt do it. Miranda was able to brush off their power rather quick and keep on the attack.

Their will be no hometown cooking for Green. IMO he needs to pull out a miracle to win this one. Can't wait to find out if Im right! Gonna be a great fight as long as it lasts.

The thing is. Well...

1. I think Miranda catches Green well before Green catches Miranda and I don't think Green has the ability to stave off Miranda while he's hurt.

2. Miranda survived versus Abraham and Eastman. And when he got hurt it didn't take him long to shake it off and he has had big spots after he got hurt both times. And coming back versus Abraham and Eastman means a lot more then coming back against Donnie McCrary.

Getting hurt doesn't spell the end for Miranda. I think the main reason why is because of his defense. He may have a bad defense but that's just when he's on the offensive. When he's on the outside and inactive, he covers up pretty nicely. He goes into that shell and when he's in that shell and crouched, he's safe.

One thing he did a lot in the Eastman fight was lead with the straight right. I wish he wouldn't do that. He doesn't set up his punches very well after that lunging right and it really exposed a lot of holes in his defense. I don't expect to see a lot of that in the Green fight. If he doesn't, or if he at least moderates it, I think he's a lot harder to counter.

I also think he's got to be patient and not fire off from that in between range. Fire from the inside or outside, probably better suited on the inside but he is going to have to work in the jab at some point imo.

Man...the more I type this the more unlikely I think that's going to be. Miranda is probably just going to throw caution to the wind and be there to hit. And this could be a FOTY. I still pick Miranda midround KO but damn this could be good

Personally...I hope that he doesn't fight all stupid for the people this time like he did against Corley. Going for the KO so early is stupidity...any thoughts?

Fighters faced off Wednesday at the final press conference for Saturday's huge fight card at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico. "I here to defend my title at home with a lot of force and energy," stated WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (28-0, 23 KOs). "I am very well prepared, just as in previous fights. I'm going to defend my crown and flag, and we are going to get victory number 29 for Miguel Cotto and all of Puerto Rico." Mandatory challenger Urkal (38-3, 11 KOs) promised to give Cotto a boxing lesson. "I had to wait 18 months for this fight and I am prepared. I hope to give him my best showing in the ring."


Sounds confident...let's just hope that he boxes like the Cotto of old instead of trying to be the Trinidad of new.

Puerto Rico needs a new champion...but they don't need a one trick poney...neither does the boxing community...Cotto is someone that we can all get behind & enjoy the ride...& I mean that in a totally NOT CUTEMICK way.
