Why is that an insane statement? You think Floyd will be as big of a star as DLH was some day? I don't really see it.. DLH was really a big star because he had the looks and came across as very well mannered and soft spoken.. Floyd may become alot more popular then he is if he can impressivly win this fight, but I think it's perfectly safe to say he'll never be as big a draw as Oscar...Originally Posted by miles

At this point of their careers...Oscar has a much better case for being mentioned with the greats than Floyd does. At the end of the day...you have to look at a fighters resume. I don't care how skilled Floyd is...he simply has not fought GREAT competition. Lets see...Oscar has fought Mosley, Trinidad, Hopkins, a prime Vargas (who was on steroids by the way!), a prime Quartey, etc. He won some of these fights and he lost some...but bottom line is...he stepped up and fought GREAT fighters. Add to that...he is mega popular. The best fighter Floyd has faced is Castillo...and with all due respect...i don't consider Castillo a truly great fighter. Otherwise...Floyd's recent and much hyped victories are over Gatti?! Brussels?! Mitchell?! Judah?! and Baldomir?! All this is not to downplay Floyd's tremendous skill...but right now...he is no where close to being considered an all time great. Oscar will always have haters. But the proof is in the pudding: he is mega popular, a great business man, and he has faced great opposition in the ring. That is a lot more than you can say for Floyd.

Yeah Floyd won't be as big of a draw as Oscar. Oscar is huge. The Mexicans are driving the boxing fan base in North America right now and Oscar has a bigger Mexican draw then any fighter not named Julio Cesar Chavez.

Who is there for Mayweather to face? If you don't consider Castillo a truly great fighter, then there is no way you would find Margarito a great fighter. Oscar had Trinidad, Whitaker, Carr, Quartey and all those others to face. Floyd didn't. But he's only 29 and he has plenty of time after this fight to fight some of the better fighters out there.Originally Posted by zhubin

How big a fighter is seldome equates to being how great that fighter was. Oscar was a very good fighter, and was very popular. It ends there.Originally Posted by amat

Floyd is a talented fighter who is not popular. It ends there. So please, no non sense about "all time greats."Originally Posted by miles
Amat, whether Floyd's lack of great opposition has been his fault or not...is debatable. But until he fights great fighters...people need to come back down to earth and stop claiming that he is an "all time great."

He will be if he beats Floyd Mayweather......Originally Posted by albsur2006

Actually....I think Oscar will be compared to SRL more then anyone. Not the most fights but almost all of them were huge fights. Been on the beneficiary end of a few shaky decisions. Immensely talented crossover stars, who both have gold medals. When I think DLH compared to anyone it's SRL.Originally Posted by zhubin

Very possible Bilbo. I think that if Oscar wins then it means much more to his career than it means to Floyd's career if he wins. If Oscar wins he beat a PRIME UNDEFEATED #1 P4P boxer at 34 years old, if Floyd wins, then he beat a Hall of Fame, but 34 year old Oscar with 4 losses on his record already.Originally Posted by bilbo
