mate i can promise you one thing (even tho i would be more than happy to see joe do it) calzaghe will never dance and fight on his bike...

Kessler as you ur self said is flat fotted, and Joe if he moved with his foot work with make kessler look silly.

    ---------

I was up newbirdge this saturday - you often hear boxers or wrtiers say about fighters in their best shape... i swear down, Calzaghe is in te best shape he has eveyr been i, imean this guy has neevr been one to sport a 6 pac untill he drained down to the weigh in, he has abs now anyone would be proud of.. newbrdige is a very small gym, anyone who has seen ti will know what i mean, but if you havnt you would piss your sellf laughgin as you would never exppect anyone to train in this let alone 3 world champions...

but i stood back just covering the fight - but you had to see it, joe worked the bas 2 feet in front of me, moved around, passing me with a polite smile, humble as F***... i swear i have never seen so much focuse in my life... i have said on here that kessler could win because joe is this and that... i take it all back now, if kessler wins then he is the F****** S***... Joe is 95% as good as he has ever been, no question he is in the best shape EVER, speed everything.. the only thign is the loss of power with hand trouble...

guys honestly i cant totaly explain it, i was standing back just watching on as he passed me from from his shadow boxing work to work the pads, he give me a polite smile but the eys, with a split seconed you could see that in the eyes there was nothing but 100% focus, i mean S*** iw as scared to say anything - it was that stone cold look, the one to strike fear in you...

sure alot fo you are thining "yeah poor welsh boy going on about his hero" but there was a stone cold dead look in there...

i said all along this will be a tought and close, i still maintain it will be tough, close, no Joewill win without to much trouble...
Just curious, have you seen him training prior to other fights before for comparison?
in person no, but when i say best shape, he has been sporting a 6 pack maywather would be proud of for weeks now, normaly joe has abs in the weigh in when he is drained... after the session the were all saying they never seen joe like this before.

I am actually excited for this fight, its been awhile (Lacy fight) since I've been anticipating a Calzaghe fight. This is his defining fight, my heart is pulling for Calzaghe but my head says Kessler. Im just going to enjoy this one and not be rooting for one over the other. I really wonder how much of a factor the crowd will be, Kessler may have to make it clear if he wants to pull off a decision.

I can just see Kessler with a slightly bemused, ripened face after 12 rounds of action

Calzaghe is one of the most complete fighters I've ever seen. If he had better management/no injuries/took more risks himself,he would be a boxing MEGASTAR right now. I'd take him over anyone at 168,Pavlik,Taylor,Hopkins and an old RJJ. (Sorry I was watching his career set, amazing stuff!)

Joe's in great shape. So what? Joe always comes in shape. Not only that, how many fighters don't say there in the best shape of there career before a certain fight?

    AAAAGggghhhhhhhkkkkk!

I'm so damn excited about this fight. I kind of forgot about it for a while but I've been reading articles and watching old fights and I'm started to get a little hyper. I booked the afternoon off work tomorrow so I can go to the weigh in, anyone else going?

I'm really interested to see how they compare against eachother in real life, it's kind of hard to tell from just watching them on the tv.

Look on BBC sport. They have a video (about the centre of the page) of Calzaghe in the gym last week. I was getting a bit nervous but after watching it I feel better about the fight. Joe seems so relaxed. So does Kessler in fact from other videos I've seen.

It doesn't matter who you want to win. I've a feeling that we'll all be witnessing something special Saturday night.

Stylistically(is that a word?) this is a great matchup, two totally different approaches. It will be interesting to see who can make the other guy fight his fight. I see a great chessmatch in the making. The one that adapts the best in the fight will probably edge it out. I feel a split decision coming on.

I posted this on another thread but I thought I would post it here also.

For me the keys to victory are as follows:

Joe - "Volume punching" Joe needs to try and outland Kessler if possible 3 to 1.
"In and Out style" Joe needs to punch on the inside and step out but he must also throw something preferably a jab.
"Use the entire ring" Joe needs to use his skills which IMO are above Kess if Joe can box well as we've seen him do then he'll be fine.

Kessler - "Put some mustard on his punches" Kess needs to throw power punches but he needs to be selective not
conservative but selective on the ones that he throws with the most power.
"Have the last say" Kess needs to realize the Joes gonna flurry regardless of what goes on Kess needs to make sure that
as Joe finishes his flurry that he MUST land at least 1 hard punch if possible 2.
"Late rally" Kess needs to bring on the pressure late in the fight Kess needs to close out the fight wining the last rounds
he can not afford to let Joe win any of the late rounds.

IWHO two things need to happen for Kessler to win...he needs to cover the fwock up & wait for the flurries to stop...then counter.

Joe aint gonna burn out like some "experts" have said.

People keep saying that Joe's old & will get old over night against Kessler. Bullshit. Kessler's got a good jab & power which is all well & fancy...but you need a bit more craft, IWHO, to topple Calzaghe.

If you could give Kessler some overnight ring savy...I'd heavily favor him...but that aint gonna happen...just like Joe won't get old overnight.

This will be a great fight & I think Joe's gonna shine again...but not like the master class act that he pulled against Lacy.

Many have also noted that Kessler is biger "in the body," than Joe is.
This may illustrate power but for Joe it could also illustrate a target. If he were to hit Mikkel's body he may preserve his hands and slow what i expect to be a relentless jabbing march forward.

I think Kessler will be tougher than Lacy, because he will throw more, and might be a bit more accurate but I really hope that Calzaghe can put the afterburners on and really throw all the punches he can at Kessler like he did with Lacy. It's so close now I can almost taste it. Well...taste the beer beforehand anyway.
