Did you know that Ann Wolfe held the title in 4 different weight classes at the same time, and somehow found a way not to allways fight in her native Texas?Originally Posted by superheavyrhun

And i have big doubts about Frank Warrens honesty.Originally Posted by superheavyrhun

Dude....Texas is just one big desert plain with occasional outcroppings of rock, two or three big cities and population clusters and halfwit presidents. That's the regional equivalent of Swansea/Neath/Port Talbot/Bridgend in fight terms. The USA is just a whole load more spaced out then Britain with larger gaps between population clusters. The equivalent of Wolfe going to Louisiana is Calzaghe going to fight in Cardiff. But then again, I'm sure going to other fighters' home town, but still in Britain, don't count as being the away fighter.Originally Posted by Trainer Monkey
Always negative towards Team Calzaghe and the promotional side of it is what I meant, which I'm sure you know. Warren is a tough negotiator, and causes issues, but it seems that whatever Calzaghe says about offers, deals etc, it's always Team Calzaghe that are the cynical liars, and those wholesome Americans are just naive honest young dudes trying to make a living in such a hard game.Originally Posted by eagle
Even u cannot deny that fights like The Manfrodo Calzaghe bout should not have been made, that was Joe's team grabbing money. You would have been all over Hopkins like a cheap suit if he'd fought someone like Manfrodo saying he was weak and scared, yet when Joe does it its ok. If the US fighters dont come to Britain they are scared, yet if Joe dont wanna go to the US thats ok cos Joe can do what he wants, and shouldnt have to.....Originally Posted by superheavyrhun
Your always negative towards the Americans so whats the diff? Is it not strange to u that Joe has been unable to make a fight against any of the big name US fighters in the last 10 years yet they have all managed to have made fights with other big names.
Oh i forgot, they are all scared of Joe..... Whatever.
Now who's misquoting who. I don't hate on Americans, and if you say that your taking one post out of a mass of posts. Manfredo v Calzaghe was a fight made purely to satisfy TV bosses in the states. Manfredo took the fall cause he was fairly high profile in the states but wouldn't trouble Calzaghe. He was just an in to that market. And can you say that American fighters don't take easy fights for the cash. This isn't a nationality thing, it's just Calzaghe gets a whole bundle more stick for it than anyone else on this forum.Originally Posted by eagle
I haven't called any US fighters scared for not fighting over here and you know that.
Joe hasn't fought in the US yet cause their promoters can't make the same kind of cash with a US show that 60,000 people in the stadium makes. TV rights are the same....so where's the most money coming from?
There have only been three big fights out there to be made with Americans during Joe's career. Hopkins, RJJ and Lacy. Lacy showed the balls and took the big paycheque to come over here. If American promoters can offer the big paycheque, Joe'll be on it like white on rice, they don't make the offers, he don't fight.
The attitude that galls me is this whole thing of Joe not making the big fights....but big fights sail by unfought around the world every year...and no other fighter gets this much stick about it.
I am American and I have to agree with SuperHeavey. This is a business after all... If I were Joe I wouldn't give 2 shits about heading to the US. The money is in the UK where he is high profile.Originally Posted by superheavyrhun

And thats exactly what is wrong with boxing and fighters like Joe. Money is more important than legacy. As if Joe needs the money. He has enough to support himself and 50 other families. Fine Joe dont go to the US, but then dont complain twenty years down the track when ppl are criticising you for not fighting the best. Cant have it both ways.Originally Posted by PRIDE OF BOSTON
Dont give me shit about Joe copping more criticism than most, this whole topic has Hopkins being knocked a tonne more than Joe. Here he is 44 years old, maybe the best legacy in boxing yet he is being called scared. Joes fans are just as quick if not quicker to jump on his opponents than Joe's detractors jump on him. U cannot deny that.
And surprise sorprise, more SC's. Weak as water really, if anyone is gonna give em they can atleast say why.
Who is hopkins to try to call shots? If anything it should be Joe because he's undefeated, cleaned out his division against guys that are actually in his weight class and he's a better fighter who is not boring.
Did I mention he's coming off a massive victory?!
Hopkins the legend? Gimme a break. He made his career on wins over guys that began their careers way below his weight and lost to the 2 good mw's he fought.
Hopkins is delirious!
Joe should be #1 p4p. That guy can fight!!!
