True, he was finshing old business with Castillo when KT was fighting Leija, but he could have had a crack at him in late 2004 (instead of Mitchell fighting KT and Floyd fighting Brussells). Also KT's fight with Hatton could just have easily been against Floyd. In May 2005 Hatton fought Kostya and Floyd fought Gatti. In both cases Floyd took the much easier road. I guess that's how to make a fight against a guy with numerous surgeries and coming of a hiatus from the sport

The Collazo fight was an opponent change on short notice and the Urango fight was to pick up his old 140lb belt. Not saying Hatton has always picked the toughest fights, but Floyd took a warmup against Mitchell at WW before fighting a champ. Ricky jumped right in against a champ, weak champ or not.

Floyd was moving up to 140 and Hatton had established himself as the 140lb guy Tszyu needed to fight. the pressure and fanfare was for a Hatton vs Tszyu showdown.
