    Lyle, you're absolutely right....

but the things is... we can't actually know FOR SURE what the real reason is now can we?

Even if it is an orbital effect, we still need to clean up this shithole!

Yes but when the government gets in your house by telling you what kind of light bulbs you can use it's gone a bit too far.

The government can try to tell me what to do in my house and my reply will always be "Fuck off"

And raising taxes on energy and restricting the production of energy via taxes on the energy companies is not the way to go BECAUSE they aren't finding any substitutes for fossil fuels they are just making things tough now and not even worrying about what are we going to use in the future and to some extent you can't force this change to happen because finding and adapting to new kinds of fuels will take lots of time and effort.

There's plenty of oil for us for thousands of years and coal and natural gas and sunlight and wind and geothermal energy to use as well....these corn subsidies to produce ethanol and E85 are ridiculous and are already costing us plenty of money as farmers only want to grow corn now to get the government money.

Right now we should focus on converting the US to a nuclear energy run country which will really clean up.

Im pro nuclear too , the fear based opposing sides are from the old 1960s experemental and fuck up stages school of thought ,we are far advanced from that now.
JUst need to make third world countries have external governing bodies to oversee the mainatance and running of their antiqeuated shit.

Oil is another matter ,I belive its in the ground for the benifit of the ground and the atmosphere. We live over the top of hell ,boiling lava and more ,its hot down there and we are removing the buffer between it and us.
Natural lubricant ,plate shifting, more earthquakes, hello.

The plate shifting is far lower in the crust than where the oil is.

Plate techtonics are caused by Magma currents, not by lack of oil...if oil was down there then the Earth would be on fire.

I hate how people say "Oil is a nonrenewable resource"....it got made somehow didn't it So who's to say it won't get made again, especially when all the trash we make gets burried and put under emense pressure and heat.

I think the "lubrication" is due to the Leidenfrost Effect

I wish I could have used Wikipedia as a reference when preparing research.

    Ah, the convenience.
