Well, like George Carlin said, America loves to bomb brown people.

I think we should do it. Basaad or whatever his name is is getting crazy. He needs a spanking. Only problem being many of his opponents are Al Queda sympathizers. Kind of a win lose situation. Since we (the US) are declining in status around the world, let's show off some of our hardware to keep everyone in check.

What a great attitude: 'Let's kill some people, just to show that we are tough'. If Assad is crazy, then surely you would have to agree that Obama is equally crazy. As far as I know Assad has never assasinated anyone in America which is precisely what America did to Bin Laden in Pakistan. If you are to use the word crazy for one situation then you have to apply it to another. Assad isn't droning people in Israel on a weekly basis. Assad is defending himself in a civil war, the basic logic to apply is that this is nothing to do with Obama and by logical extension that Obama himself is crazy for getting involved in something nobody else wants to be involved in.

Nope, just covert assasinsination on sovereign land resulting in blatant murder and no attempt to capture him. Very illegal.

Unless there is a strong strategy for the afteremath, I feel too that attacking Syria will only bring a loadshit of new problems rather than solutions.

It is going to happen, the US will intervene. I expect, in the next few days or weeks, that there will be more and more 'proof' of horrific crimes committed under Assad's orders. Wouldn't it be a real hoot if, somehow, some way, Syria managed to blow something up in the US by the end of September, or fired on a US ship or some other such thing...Just out of the blue?

That is why it is a win lose situation as I stated. Still, if we let a country use chemicals against its own people it sets a bad precedent. China and Russia are against any action purely out of financial interest, they couldn't give a shit about human rights.

The only precedent that should be set is that it is a middle east issue and should be solved by the nations in that region. Or only red line should be when a nation's actions are a threat to US lives or national security. We need to stop being the world police. We aren't that good at it and its a thankless job.

I vote straight Libertarian and have since 2004. That being said waging war in the middle east has proven to be the one area the Dems and GOP can find some bipartisan harmony. People just like their own war mongerer.

I don't see how it is any of our concern in the first place but more importantly we haven't exactly done a bang up job in the past. The joke would be this president getting us into a quagmire in the ME just like the last one.

Yeah or maybe just out of the red white and blue!

Easy a simple bungled assignation attempt on some one deemed special and then set up some innocent middle eastern family bloke from some poor area ,recently deceased from avoiding capture, type of militant terrorist sort of bloke and we can be posting missiles down his relatives chimney by the next day.
