5th round both missing a lot and posturing but Groves was busier with the jab and causing some damage. The illegal leg sweep was good.
3-2 Groves

Smith wins the 6th. They’re probably both connecting with as much as each other , but Smith’s are having more impact.

Groves enjoying himself in the 6th.
Sharp and hurtful jab from Groves and Smith not doing as much.
4-2 Groves

Wow
Smith stops Groves in the 7th landing a big left hook that hurt George and finished him off with combinations.
Groves nodded his head as if he knew he could not get up.
That was quick and unexpected.

Wow! I never saw that coming. Groves will retire now surely. He didn’t want to get up , shaking his head at 7. He’s only 30, but it feels like he’s at the end.
There was talk of retirement after whichever way it went, and I never like that. It has to affect the mindset.
Bit gutted now.

If I’m gonna lose it , I don’t mind losing it to someone as consistent as you or someone who has the balls to put it on the line like @Fenster. Congrats

That was a beautiful counter left hook that got that started. The right hook to the body almost tore Groves in half. A very mature measured performance from Smith.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough
