Haney is good and he's noticably bigger than Loma, can't see Loma being competitive in that one.

Well that just makes it even worse .

Haney next to Loma was telling, Loma calls him a heavyweight. Maybe it was the Halloween jumpsuit on Haney but he looked huge.

did the wbc name devin as loma's mandatory or just number one contender? if you could show the wbc link where they state devin was loma's mandatory or that they mandated that fight would be great. also didn't loma already have belts at the time? i'm not sure if loma had any mandatories at the time either for those belts but i would have thought mandatories for belts he already had would have been ahead of devin anyway. if you could clear that up for me would be great. the wbc are to blame in my opinion for creating another belt
Loma’s team requested it. Stop making excuses. What happens happens. We don’t need excuses

what excuses am i making? i asked two questions. are you not able to post a link from the wbc where they state devin is loma's mandatory? second question seemed like common sense that if you already have belts those mandatories would come before someone who was allegedly named mandatory after you already held other belts, but lets start with you backing up claim that devin was loma's mandatory. i see you have posted a link, unfortunately it doesn't appear to be from the wbc, does it state in that article that devin was named loma's mandatory? so once again please provide an official wbc link showing they named devin as loma's mandatory or that they mandated that fight, from there you & i can move on to the order of mandatories

That was a good contest and impressed with Ortiz performance as he came out fast, aggressive, high energy and gave Loma all sorts of problems early in the contest.

Ortiz had the youth, height and reach to cause Loma problems and the bruise on Loma face made him have to work hard to earn the victory.

As the contest moved to the later rounds Loma's experience took over and he bruised the eye of Ortiz. Good fight from both and hope Loma can now take on Haney for the 4 belts.

Good fight- I think you can see the style that will give Loma trouble at this stage of his career (at lightweight). Young, much larger, athletic fighter with a good jab ( similar to Teo) takes Loma half a fight to tire out and figure out enough to start taking over. Haney is a better version of both so that is a tough fight for Loma. 135 pounders are too big and when you combine that with youth/energy that is a tough combination for Loma.

Before his return from "War", I said wouldn't be surprised if we never saw Loma in the ring again.. I guess I owe him an apology... I guess....

Yes, the size difference was apparent, but that's the game now. Loma was still going straight in without his footwork and eating leather. The footwork, Jab, step around, Slip under isn't going to work against these boiled down welterweight kids who have essentially been instructed to punch with him and take the body whenever he gets inside. I get it that its his first fight back, but I don't see this version of him putting in the work necessary to take what Haney has. (he needs to study tape, get great sparring, a crystal ball and a tarot deck.) He already naturally comes up short on size, reach, power and a way in.

The only thing in Lomas favor is that Haney sometimes has a habit of going straight back, but if he learns to step around and hook with Loma. He'll put this Loma on his butt at least a few times. May have to change this name after this fight from the dream to the "Mosquiter eater".

Haney looks bigger but love to see how Loma solves the puzzle.

Or so you tell yourself that you're cool? Or that you call people in their 30s boomers?

He's definitely making dig out of an early hole a concerning habit. In fairness his pacing of self and knowing his gas tank is impressive...but he looks more linear now trying to stick with the aggression. Glad the fight is coming off but that approach will not benefit him with Haney who is quickly finding his own path and expanding his toolbox. Haney isn't carrying bricks, but I now have no questions about if he will or if he will not step up the volume off that jab. Kid is growing up. Oh and he's massive.
