Art Davie is a business executive and entrepreneur formerly active in Southern California advertising circles. [1] In 1993, he created and co-produced the tournament which became the televised Ultimate Fighting Championship.[2] [3] In 1998, Davie, as vice-president of K-1 USA, brought the successful K-1 kickboxing franchise from Japan to Las Vegas and North American pay-per-view television.[1]In 2003, Davie was an Executive Producer with Mandalay Sports Entertainment. In 2006, he became vice-president of television at Paradigm Entertainment Group

So just as I thought it was an entertainment and advertsing guru who 'invented' UFC as a PPV source of entertainment.

Later that same year, WOW Promotions partnered with Semaphore Entertainment Group to produce the 1st Ultimate Fighting Championship for pay-per-view television. Following UFC 5 in April 1995, WOW sold its interest in the franchise to SEG and closed the company.

So they invented it, set up a company then SOLD it for loads of cash! Hmm Marketing gimmick, cash cow, :

, WOW Promotions sought a television partner and approached Showtime, HBO and Semaphore Entertainment Group (SEG). Both HBO and Showtime declined but SEG, a pioneer in Pay-Per-View TV who had produced a mixed tennis match between Jimmy Connors and Martina Navratilova, became WOW's partner in May 1993 Hmm interesting so HBO AND SHOWTIME thought the idea was bollocks! but the mixed tennis match people thought it was good to go.

Not the most credible of origins I'd have to say.

You can watch all these boxers make their obscene amounts of money while you and your brain dead comrades fill your fat tummys full of beer and comment on the polotics of your corrupt leaders who are in fact being bought left and right by the same people that sell you the beer that kills your mind. Me? Well ill be watching real fights between true artist who have not sold out to the devils of capatalism. Again, you sickin me...........

Tyson would get completely and utterly messed up in MMA or UFC if he fought even a half decent fighter in there.

Why? Cause boxing skills dont mean shit when your on the floor in an armlock of strangle hold. The only chance Mike would have is a KO punch at the start of the fight, seen as UFC and MMA take place predominantly on the ground.

Dont get me wrong i love boxing, its the best fighting entertainment out there, much more entertaining than UFC or MMA but the simple fact of the matter is that its pretty useless against and grappling orientated martial arts such as Judo cus people dont stand at distance and wait to be punched. Think about how many clinches there are even in boxing, every one of those clinches would be the martial artists area of expertise and thus he would wipe the floor with a boxer

It's lucky for you guys I'm so incredibly thick skinned, a lesser man wouldn't be able to take the heat and would get outta here.

But getting back to the Nascar thing, once they hit top speed it's just a long precession, they don't need to change gears any more or even turn the wheel. I played Nascar on the playstation, you just keep the wheel permanently on a 30 degree angle bearing left and hold accelarate. Then you just hold that position until you either win or quit the game out of sheer boredom.

I chose the latter option.

But getting back to the Nascar thing, once they hit top speed it's just a long precession, they don't need to change gears any more or even turn the wheel. I played Nascar on the playstation, you just keep the wheel permanently on a 30 degree angle bearing left and hold accelarate. Then you just hold that position until you either win or quit the game out of sheer boredom.

I chose the latter option.

Your skin is not nearly thick enough to actually GO to a NASCAR 'race'. My dad did the 'favor' of taking me to one along long time ago(wish i had been in a galaxy far far away).
It was so fukkin loud i thought my ears were going to bleed. I even met a decent lookin girl there , but the stupid a$$ cars were drowing out my petty attempts to get laid. THANKS NASCAR!
