Ottke couldn't punch for S***. But he had no problem getting in the ring. He averaged about 4 fights a year. Which is pretty much unheard of these days. He never bitched that his hand hurt. And didn't believe in post-ponding fights. Calzaghe wishes he could be loved in his country the way Ottke is in his. Calzaghe wishes he could be Ottke.
I agree with you on Calzaghe and some parts on Ottke but to be honest i got sick of Ottke's gift decision in his hometown he got too many gifts for my liking VD.

Now then, now then, I can't let that pass now can I. We were world leaders in sheep-shagging Rugby in the 70s and 80s, and both Jimmy Wilde and Tommy Farr were world class boxers, who along with Steve Robinson, who won the WBO featherweight title at 48 hours notice, have represented Wales well on the world stage. And with present company of Maccarinelli, and prospects coming through, I'd reckon Wales is punching very well for the size of country we are.

And I'm bored of defending Calzaghe to people who are too ignorant to read my posts and reply to my points- *columbo*.
Erm, you're Welsh I guess, therefore do I need to treat you as an equal! You already used the terms sheep shaggers and world class in the same sentence! If you had a sheep under each arm, would be you classed as a pimp in Wales? According to you, you would! And who mentioned rugby (small r by the way boyo)? This is a boxing forum, oh wait, I'll discuss quiots or darts, coz apparently we can! Learn to read young man, learn to read! And who manages Maccarinell? Nuff said dullard!
OK, first off, you have a go at me for referring to our main national sport, Rugby, which was specifically answering the point which you made that Wales had not produced anything world standard, and I was giving you an example. Which, by the way, was an answer to the point that I READ from your post. Whether you like Frank Warren or not, (I can guess which), the WBO is generally recognised as the fourth among the big four licensing bodies, and Maccarinelli is the cruiserweight champion. You can make whatever jokes you like about Wales, but at the moment I've seen no logical points put forward by you to dissuade me that your opinion is little more than a dislike of a fighter, rather than a genuine balanced analysis. I dislike James Toney and Floyd Mayweather, but it doesn't stop me from admitting that both were world class at their peak.

My pants are most certainly not happy JT. Indeed, they are positively sleepy pants. Anyhow, I was merely suggesting that that young man needs to be brought down a peg or two, and get his arrogant, egotistical big mouth in check. And I'm happy to lead the posse and round them up.

And as for all the Welsh jokes on the thread, having lived in England for years I've heard em all before. Find me a new one, and you might get me riled .

Jones? Has been offered the fight numerous times but his last ridiculous demand was laughed at, and this was off the back of two knockouts, Jones talks a good fight but his demands have always been unrealistic. Boxing aint just black and white mate, its down to business and other fighters managerial teams are just as much to blame as Calzaghe's team for these big fights not happening.

Also i apologise it was Manfredo you were refering to with your flagging career comment, my mistake.

Jones offered to fight Calzaghe 70-30, with 70 for Calzaghe, so who declined that one

Ottke's biggest dream was to retire undefeated so he wouldn't risk stepping in the ring with Calzaghe, the same as if he was fighting at the start of last year he wouldn't have stepped through the ropes with Jeff Lacy or Mikkel Kessler.
And bitching about his hand, he's had tissue damage which won't ever get better to his interosseous membrane, which means that the right combination of pressure and angle will put his bones out of kilter, and any ferocious punch will break it. You give me any fighter with an undefeated record that has broken his hands numerous times in the ring and still came through to win. And Calzaghe's following in Wales is even bigger than Ottke's in Germany, otherwise he wouldn't pack out the Millenium Stadium.

Now the tables have been turned what's in it for Calzaghe? Jones Jr wasn't interested in a fight when he was in his prime, but now he's looking for a last big payday, and Calzaghe's on American TV, now he's interested. Calzaghe should let the old man rot in the Iowa boxing circuit, or wherever he's fighting these days.

Just cause he's sitting on the horse that was his fight fee for his last outing against The Boxing Prince. RJJ is done bro, he's at least two or three wins away from any sort of title challenge, whilst Calzaghe's in negotiations for a three-belt unification.

No way would I call Calzaghe a sheep shagger to his face if I saw him in a bar. I'll call him by his true name. "Boxings biggest fraud". And I'll tell his WBO title is garbage. His streak is a joke. And I'll tell him he's a little bitch for letting Frank Warren control his whole career. I'll tell him F*** Frank Warren! I'll tell him his boy Ricky Hatton is going to get his a** kicked by Castillo. I'll tell him he ducked Sven Ottke. I'll tell him he got a gift win against Robin Reid and than proceeded to avoid him like the plague. I'll tell him Jeff Lacy was never even that good. Other than that I wouldn't have much to say to him.
Damn your a bad a$$.. i hope he doestnt tell you everything he hates about you because he obsessed with you... oh yeah he dont give a sh!t about haters like you

calzaghe: 20 defences, undefeated undisputed supermiddle weight champ of the world, fame and respect, rising by the year.. thats why your obsessed with hating him.. you had all that knowledge of calzaghe-hating right on the top of your head.. because its one of your fav. topics..

If calzaghe sucked we wouldnt even be talking about it right now.. he wouldnt have threads on him all the time in all the boxing sites in boxing..

I got nothing against white fighters. I don't really have a certain favorite. But now that I think about it, a lot of them do seem to be involved in a lot of my favorite fights. Tommy Morrison-Ray Mercer, Darrin Van Horn-Iran Barkley, Alex Arthur-Michael Gomez, Lou Saverese-Mike Tyson, Peter Frissina-Rafael Marquez. I don't know it's just me, but white fighters seem to always make for spectacular knock outs. It's just to bad for them that must of the time is them getting knocked out.

But I don't see yours. If you been reading this site for the past years, like you claim to (all new posters claim to) you would of known that i always considered Lacy an overrated, mediocre fighter. And I enjoy seeing Brock, Rahman and the rest get knocked out as much as the next person. Damn this guy actually mentioned Brock. Where did you guys find this clown? Like I give a fuck about Brock, Rahman or Mercer.

Until Lacy starts losing to mediocre competition, i won't call him overrated. Just because Joe beat the shit out of him does not make him overrated.
